We had overall a decent experience. The entire industry in my opinion needs to be restructured. Too few staff many times, and the level of competency and caring differs from person to person. It's often that some caregivers are not interested in the residents but just the paycheck. Also, when people leave or pass on,it's obvious they don't care. At Meridian, it was get his stuff out by this day or you'll be held financially responsible. We had trash in bags, all ready to take out, they wouldn't even do that. We had to take a... read more

Business response:

We follow all staffing regulations set by the state licensing board. Our residents at all care levels and stages are our top priority, and we hope to make sure loved ones feel the same. We wish you peace in this difficult time, and we're happy to clarify any of our policies and procedures regarding move outs. Please email us at corpmarketing@meridianatchino.com

I was very disappointed in the care my mom received and the services they say they offer, my mom wanted to attend church & it was never offered I thought she would do activities to help with her memory that never happen Several of her items came up missing & were never recovered I was told residents go in other peoples room & take things The staff are nice enough ladies but I don’t think they have the knowledge to work with people in memory care I have to give Vera credit once she became the memory care director she was very... read more

Business response:

We apologize if we did not meet your expectations, though we always endeavor to provide consistent care for our residents in Memory Care. We are glad that our new Memory Care Director was able to provide your mom with more support and increase your peace of mind. Staff training is always ongoing, as experience and education are the keys to providing the best memory care possible.

The place is very disappointing, once you are pass the visit and move in ,the staff knows nothing about you as a individual Nor do they seem very enthusiastic about their jobs other than the receptions and people in the cafeteria are very nice and helpful Memory care location stinks and the staff don’t seem to be well trained in the area of people with dementia or understand the care they need

Business response:

We appreciate it when family members take the time to provide feedback. Thank you for recognizing our reception and dining staff, we will pass this along. We will also discuss the areas that you feel need improvement at our staff meeting. Please feel free to stop by the executive director’s office to discuss your concerns one-on-one.

This facility should be careful about calling themselves a Memory Care unit. My dad was there for [amount of time removed] and they tried to evict him. We were told he was difficult and being physical. We explained how difficult he was and was told that's why he should be in their facility. We were forced by the facility to pay a few thousand dollars to hire 24 hour care while I looked for another facility since they refused to care for him with their normal caretakers. It has been over a month since I moved him into a new f... read more

This was the first time I ever had to do anything like this. Meaning, choose an adult living four a family member.... A place for mom make the process easy. I just chose the wrong place... everything looked good on the outside and sounded good, but it wasn't. 1. My experience was BAD 2. The facility is very clean on the front line... When it comes to the room, just ok. 3. Everyone is nice. 4. Very under staffed. Care for love ones is poor... love are left in room or hallways most of the time.... 5. Administrative staff are n... read more

We appreciate the positive comments that you have highlighted and apologize if we did not meet expectations over care concerns. Due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss resident care on social media. Though we promise to share your thoughts with the community staff.

We moved my mom to [facility name removed] since [date removed] and our family and my mom are very happy. It has been a great experience there! They did not have one family affair involving memory care with assisted living. Memory care at Hillsborough feels like a mental institution. You could not visit whenever, they would throw you out at 7pm.

Business response:

As a premier senior living provider, we are always open to feedback, but this review is a bit of a head-scratcher. We are very communicative about the hours that families can visit. During the summer it is until 8 p.m. while during the winter it’s 7 p.m. That said, as long as family members tell us they are staying later, we are fine with it. Due to safety reasons, it is important for us to know who is in the building at all times. We are glad that you have found a place for your mom that is a good fit for you and your famil... read more

The independent living situation is fine however I would not recommend the memory care unit because they do not have a nurse on staff and I was charged for level 3 care in that unit and my mom did not get the service I was paying for. I tried to set up an appointment with the director and she said she would get back to me and never did. It is too difficult to get a bandaid from a med tech because they aren't around when you need them and the medication issues I had did not only happen to me. It happened to my friend's mom to... read more

Business response:

This type of review is always difficult to respond to as we are restricted by HIPPA rules (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) about discussing the specific care of a resident. However, in general terms, the differences between Assisted Living /Memory Care and a Skilled Nursing Facility is that we are not licensed to provide any medical/clinical care. And, we understand that watching a parent decline not only memory but also physically, is traumatic. That said, we read every review and take the relevant sugg... read more
