Great place in quaint little NJ town. Always a good experience. Reservations are on time. Great hostesses
Metropolitan Café is one of my favorites. The food is consistent and the experience is very nice. The ambiance makes this restaurant one of the nicest in Freehold. We've had many quiet dinners here. We've also rented the restaurant out for special occasions a number of times. The staff does a really nice job. Downstairs gets crowded and has a really nice bar scene. The upstairs is quiet - a great combination for everyone.
Stopped for a late lunch and might have been first customers before dinner as there were few customers. Wait staff did not seem prepared for guests so might have caught a shift change. Food was very good but the atmosphere was poor as staff were rushing around and we kind of got lost in the shuffle.
Went on Easter Sunday for our anniversary and it wasn't very crowded since it was a holiday, so I can't really speak to the noise level or bar scene. We were greeted by a nice young woman who chatted with us a bit. Our waiter was polite and knowledgable about the menu. App was the mozzarella and tomato which were good, but not amazing, as the description would lead one to believe. For entrees, "spanish style" garlic shrimp with a rice with chorizo in it. Haven't been to The Metropolitan Cafe in quite a while and had some cousins coming in from out of town so we decided to meet them at The Metropolitan Cafe. The waiter was very good and didn't rush us to order and brought out our food in a timely manner. The food was also excellent and everyone in our party enjoyed our dishes. I would definitely be coming back to The Metropolitan Cafe.
Over all experience was very good. The food was good and so was the service. Wish our server had told us the prices on the specials menus.
Nice atmosphere , we were seated in a room with A booth which gave us more privacy . I had a cosmo For a cocktail , and you get the shaker as well So it is like getting a refill. Dinner was good , but the portions were small Overall a good experience .
Enjoyed Metropolitan, staff very friendly. Hard time rating the food; boarder lined from good to very good. Found pasta with shrimp dish very under seasoned. We were seated upstairs where tables were quite close and a bit loud. Experience overall was good.
