Jen made the whole process so uncomplicated. She met me to sign the GFE and disclosures and was very thorough. Her and her manager Teresa Balian went above and beyond their job descriptions. My scores were low in the beginning. I took her advise, my fico scores increased and I was approved for the loan. We saw this property we were interested in, we called Maria for an approval, everything went good and then once we signed contract, everything went south. First off, you have no idea how much she pushed us to sign contract, two, three times a week calling, did ya sign, did ya sign. Then one day we signed, and then she gave us a loan estimates with a very high interest rate regardless with the discount points and huge closing costs. Ben will hold your hand through the process however you need to be diligent in your reviewing of documents and do not sign anything until you fully understand what you are getting into. I came into the homebuying process with limited funds and the bank was aware of what they were. I continued to save throughout the process because if I got the house I wanted to do some work. I am torn writing this review. The staff we worked with were friendly and helpful overall. We went with Mid-Island based on a recommendation from my union. The issue was that we were sent a cash at closing amount the required 3 days prior to closing. Then less than 16 hours before the closing and after the end of business hours, we were sent a new, much higher cash at closing amount. Let me first state that I never like to bash anyone or any company via online, but this is has to be put out there so that other people are not in the same situation that I am in right now. If I could give this company a ZERO STAR review I would. They are absolutely terrible. Customer service is completely useless. I have contacted them over 10 times within 1 month and none of the customer service reps can give me a straight answer, and this includes so called "super visors". Worst mortgage company ever! They screwed my escrow account and increased my mortgage payment to $17000 more per month because they made a huge mistake. They paid county tax on someone else's mortgage and put the bill on me accidentally , and said I owe them money when it's not even my tax. I have asked them to fix it for many months, and they kept giving me excuses. I also wrote them multiple emails to remove my PMI, they never response. Watch out for this company! They are not honest!
Ben told us from the beginning he would match any rate we found since we had tier 1 credit and no debt he promised to be competitive. Our initial floating rate was high however Ben assured us it would come down, when we finally locked in the rate was significantly higher than all but 1 bank I questioned the rate and was told do not go to another bank it will mess up my credit and he will fix the rate.
