Almost simultaneously got requests for my divorce decree along with a request for my wife's email and SSN. Why divorced and not divorced at the same time? Requested no out-of-pocket re-fi, and got presented with an almost $4,000 in closing costs. Was fixed, but why was this missed?

It took forever to get everything in place. Underwriting kept coming back with requests and always at the last minute. Asked for statements and then said it'll be fine, then it wasn't, then I need to send multiple statements. No one is taking charge and leading the project. Max was pleasent to talk to, but dropped the ball multiple times. I feel like this could have been avoided, if more attention to details was there at the start. Mellissa seemed to pay no attention to what I was saying and would just keep repeating request from my bank that would not be send the way she wanted them.

Max asked for many forms more than once. He would ask for paperwork and then lose it. They questioned the appraisal their own appraisal. Asked for all the paperwork for improvements that were done and then questioned them. They asked a question about the difference in pics of a basement wall when it was 2 different walls. They also delayed the closing 15 mins before the meeting because they wanted updated paperwork after they dragged it on for so long. Horrible experience.

Loan completed and terms understood throughout. Your online account management system sucks. Multiple failed uploads and requests for documents to me by system which were in error.

Max told us things were included at the beginning ($1075 lender credit) and then when we went to close, Max said that they weren’t included anymore because he matched a loan rate. No communication regarding him taking those off. We would ask him questions and he was slow to get back with us or didn’t get back with us at all. We also let him know that we didn’t want to roll in our closing costs and have a higher loan amount. He did not listen and had to change the loan the night before closing.

I understand that the mortgage market was extremely hot during the last four months. Enormous pressure within First IB to close conventional mortgages for profit was likely the cause. However, the HELOC I applied for in late November 2020 didn't get courtesy updates. Often weeks would go by with no response to phone messages or emails requesting the status of the HELOC. Now after ~ four months the HELOC is approved. It took an inordinate amount of my time & attention to get this done.
