Probably because of the old black-and-white photos of Phoenix that cover the walls or the ease with which the patrons settle in for a casual meal or a drink at the bar. Delicious, a varied menu and the BEST French fries!! I had the short ribs and loved I could order a small portion. My husband had the ribs and ey were fantastic! This is a Phoenix landmark, highly recommended.

One of my favorite Phoenix restaurants. The food is always outstanding!
I googled it downtown Phoenix restaurants and this came up. It is nowhere close to downtown, but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food in the atmosphere.
The wait staff is always top notch here along with the food and atmosphere. We have been going here for years and will continue to do so. Like that they have smaller portion sizes if you want.

Dined on the patio. Great heaters for a cool evening. Started with a nice sized bowl of CERVICHE. Muy bien. The wife had the PISTACHIO CRUSTED HALIBUT. It was too well done for her taste. I had the BABY BACK RIBS. These were also over done for my taste, but the sauce was excellent. We additionally ordered a pan of CHILI CORN BREAD and it was wonderful (as always.)
