Solid take on classic soul food. I would say elevated. Some people are no fan of hipster takes on things but I have yet to have a bad experience with what they come up with. You have the staples of soul in the city but this spot does some of the classics better than those(sorry). I really don't get the hype about this place. If y'all ever had KFC chicken before, it tastes just like that but a little less flavorful. Service is good. The place feels like an old school diner place. The pies were good but I don't think I would come back here. Chicken was honestly pretty disappointing. Glad I gave it a try though. If I were to ever come back, it'll only be for the dessert.

Food was cold not what I expected. Coffee was cold, cups were dirty. However, the waitress was great.
I haven't been to pies N thighs in a while & I decide to stop by and off the back I wasn't read it. There was a lady with the army fatigue jacket with earrings on her lip and long hair and glasses, and she didn't greet me, but whenever everyone else came in after me, she greeted and explained the menu too. THE WORST! I have ordered 3 times this month. They have gotten the order wrong 2 OUT OF 3 TIMES! The first order there was no cornbread so they said they would refund me, which never happened. The 2 time I ordered the Catfish box and the pieces of catfish were so tiny it was pathetic. The catfish is wayyy overpriced for the portion size. Then, I ordered the Fried Chicken box today--cheating on my usually vegan and fish diet--and SPECIFICALLY asked for 2 drumsticks and a thigh.
