Best robotic cleaner ever I had a maytronics triton that i sold and bought this polaris from another auction seller ... AMAZING! First of all, there are a few negative reviews, after reading them, I realize that they most likely are not using the unit correctly. This unit is great, I use it every 2 or 3 days, it climbs the walls, does the tile, picks up all but the biggest of palm leaves and leaves my pool sparkling. The unit does have a 7 day programmable timer, this is junk, it might work, but you need to remove the unit every day after it cleans your pool. Love everything about our new robot(my kids have named him ... Love everything about our new robot(my kids have named him Walle). The only problem I have with Walle, is when he climbs steeps walls(by our slide) he flips over like a turtle and shuts off.....very annoying!!! I need to figure out how to keep him away from this small area of our pool.
What else are you going to use? I'm new to pools and it is very hard to get the layer of silt of the pool floor. The old pool guy worked here for a decade, and never took the silt off the bottom. His theory was you sweep it and the filter is supposed to filter it out, but that is not efficient at all and simply does not work. When you actually get that silt you think is dust off the floor, you will be amazed as it is actually green slime. I bought mine at Leslie, and paid a little more. You need one of these! We recently remodeled our 30,000 gal diving pool, and began shopping for a cleaner that would keep our pool like new. The Polaris 9550 has so far exceeded all our expectations. It moves easily through the pool, picking up leaves, hair, and other debris. We use the multiple settings to customize our cleaning schedule to fit our needs.
