Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. Works well... while it lasts. Unreliable and expensive. This worked perfectly to replace our failed back-up valve. I dock a star because it is too expensive for a part that fails so often.
all looked fine, so I ran some water through the paddle ... Delivered timely, new (in packaging), however when installed it did not function. I Googled "Polaris G52 problems" and came across a couple of DIY pool maintenance forums...figured I would take it apart to see if there was an obvious issue. Upon opening the housing, all looked fine, so I ran some water through the paddle mechanism to see if it was functioning properly....sure enough, it did not turn at all. Great Replacement Part. While I was working on rebuilding my Polaris, I had the hose out of the pool and the backup valve cracked. When I put the rebuilt Polaris back into the water it did not work as it did before due to the lack of water pressure because of the cracked backup valve. This replacement was an easy replacement and now the new rebuilt Polaris is good for another 4 years.
