Major disappointment! Took mom here for 70th and it was a let down. Steaks were just average. Scallops were good but small portions! There was no wow factor for a $400 meal. Then to top it off there was nothing to acknowledge her birthday.
High prices, but not high ratings. Did not like the menu. Could not fault the service, but the food was disappointing.
This is our second time at Provision. Food was excellent and the plating was exceptional. Ambiance was great. Our waitress, however, was very unsure of herself and did not have a good command of the menu. Her poor performance turned a potentially fantastic meal into a so-so meal.
It would not be my top CRG restaurant that I would recommend to my friends. I came a few days after they changed their menu. I liked their vision for their menu. It did not deliver on it however. Their scallops were raw in the middle and corn sauce lacking proper seasoning. I felt the same for the sides. My filet was was over cooked for Med rare. It was light brown and barely any read if any at all. It was still tender so I didn’t say anything but for the price of almost $50 just for the steak I expected it to be at least med rare as I ordered. The ham wrapped Brussels sprouts was also nothing special to write about for a $9 vegetable side dish. We arrived for a 7:30 reservation and the noise from the restaurant could be heard a floor below. We sat at the bar and received friendly and good service. The value was terrible. $37 and $39 respectively for a small portion of snapper and so-so short ribs. FYI, halibut was listed at $44! If the food had been exceptional it would have been acceptable, but as is very disappointing.
The noise level made conversation much more difficult than on previous occasions. Food was excellent and our server was outstanding (can't remember his name but he is planning to go to law school in Chicago or Milwaukee soon), but the noise level made the whole experience less than outstanding, which it usually is.
Never order fish at Provision. They do not know how to prepare fish.
