nice keyboard, low-end starter tape This versatile labeler features a functional QWERTY keyboard and useful memory features. It has a lot of cutesy but less-useful settings, and ships with an annoying starter tape. The QWERTY keyboard and horizontal arrangement is a major improvement over my old Brother PT-1010 label-maker (which is arranged vertically with a non-standard key layout). The keys are responsive, and the mode and function keys don't destroy your label-in-progress. Various basic styles are available, as well as s... read more

Not bad, but lean on features for the price For awhile I've been using an older Brother label maker, and while it started out good at first, it's started to flake out and not work about a quarter of the time and it's not due to damage or bad batteries. When this came available, I took it as a sign to replace the old label maker. This label maker from Brother runs on four AAA batteries. The QWERTY keyboard is large enough to avoid squashing down the wrong key or multiple keys in error, and are clearly labeled. The display scr... read more

same classic design, works great for home, office, & retail Yay! A replacement for my old label maker from about 7 years ago. Honestly, it hasn't changed in that time. The only new thing I see is that you can save 3 things instead of just reprinting the last one you input. That's cool. Same amount of batteries, functions, features, and method of printing (heat), but that's ok! It's great for labeling things to organize, for retail, for identifying who owns what at home. This is a classic essential for the home and office! Wo... read more

Fast and easy basic labels, wastes tape This a very basic, easy to use (for basic printing) label maker. It normally comes with a half full cartridge of black on white tape. It is very easy to start printing out of the box - put the batteries and the cartridge in, turn it on, type and press the print button. There is no wait for Windows to load, the screen turns on right away, ready to work. It takes a couple of seconds to print a medium label. It prints on a plastic tape with black ink. It is not laminated, but it is quite ... read more

Not handy at all To start off simply, I think this product is trying to offer too many options and thus does none of them quite well. I've had label makers before and found them useful. This is far more complicated than the average label maker. It promises neat fonts and symbols and all sorts of ways to dress up lettering by size or shadow. You can use various colors. And while it's easy to feed the tape, if you are going to change colors, you are going to have to have a way to store them. I wished it held more colors at onc... read more

Still Prefer The Epson LabelWorks But This Is A Decent Basic Label Maker I never knew how much I could use labels until I got my first label maker. I have used that for a LOT of different purposes and have found it useful. My previous label maker experience is with a more luxurious model from Epson. However, for quick little labels that I want to use on items on the go, I thought it would be handy to have a smaller sized label maker to take with me and use quickly for quick labels that I am not quite as concerned about perfe... read more

Haven't stopped using mine since it arrived. Love it. Love. I have only one complaint and that is I wish I could see the decorated signs before I printed them. That would have been helpful. Other than that it's the perfect size and durability to travel with. It has so many options to customize your labels. You can preview all your labels before you print, and you can save the ones you want to keep using.

Brother Printer P-touch Handy Label Maker Ever since the first time I saw a label maker I wanted one. My folks had one of the old manual label makers with the stiff plastic tape that you had to squeeze. Well, to me that was the coolest thing ever! Then the 90's came along, and the electronic label makers was born. They were, if possible, even more cool! As much as I wanted one I just couldn't justify the purchase but, with a child entering middle school and belongings and school supplies to be marked, I decided to take the p... read more

Functional But Somewhat Fussy I have an older version of this machine that I love and use often. This one has a lot of upgrades for fonts and little pictures. After spending the morning reading the instructions and trying it out, I would have to say that while this is very nice, the extras are difficult to use and I probably won't bother. What I Like: The extra tapes are nice Being able to make a large font and stretch it out so it is easier to read Easier cutter that on the older models What I Don't Like One of the biggest ... read more
