Unfortunately the people we spoke with did not seem to have a lot of knowledge regarding the services and costs and kept telling us to call XX person. The facility itself looked nice but based on the tour, we were worried about services.
I was so thrilled to initially found this facility for a loved one. Everyone seemed so nice and I was thrilled with the level of care I was inially promised. Things went down hill very quickly once my loved one moved in. I realized what you are promised prior to signing the lease as far as daily care is not actually done. They have since moved out. Well, I would say most of the people that made me feel comfortable in choosing this were extremely friendly, happy and attentive. But unfortunately, it seems like there's a lot of turnover in this industry and now most of them are gone, so I really didn't know how to answer the question. I'm not saying that the new ones aren't as pleasant and share the same qualities, but the turnover is difficult for the residents and the residence family members.

My husband would have benefited from more stimulation. He was mentally alert with all his facilities but physically totally dependent. The staff were wonderful, so kind and caring. But he was in the memory care unit because of his level of care. Sitting in front of the constant TV with severely dementia patients wasn't the answer. The unit itself was originally very dark and drab but it was receiving a makeover which could only help. There needed to be more activities, gatherings in the patio areas, music activities etc.

Our memory care activities have been enhanced and improved since your husband lived with us, and we have lunch outdoors several times a week. From our perspective, it's seems that information isn't always offered directly. So we had ask many questions on basic information. So it felt like once the money was paid, we were on our own except when they raise the rent. That's happened three times in a year. The memory care staff has been great. But the office staff is non existent. I'd still recommended it, but with warnings.
We toured Pacifica Senior Living Rancho Penasquitos during our search for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one and we did not like the facility. It felt like an old hospital. Definitely not what we were looking for in a facility for our loved one.

You may be interested in knowing that our community is currently going through a full renovation in the Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods. So you might consider taking another tour in the new year.
It's an older facility, which is fairly clean. There has been alot of changes in staff. The people that I have interacted with are friendly. They are lacking with the care services, and they don't have enough staff. Taking things forever to get done, in the quality of care that we were expecting. The cleaning people are kind, and are always smiling. The activities have been lacking, because they just got a new activities director. Overall, not happy.

My loved one was here for memory care and I would not recommend this community to others for memory care. The community is understaffed and the food is not good at all and there is no variety or options. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms in memory care are not clean as often as they are supposed to.

We have had issues with every part of the service at The Arbors at Rancho Penasquitos. The layout is not very good . He is in a wheelchair, and the rooms are so crammed that the hallways are not conducive to his situation. The bathroom is not set up for someone in a wheel chair as well. Same for the dining room table - he cannot get right up to the table with his wheelchair. There have also been some issues with the pricing. Every little thing is an additional cost.
