What a beautiful spot. So tastefully done. We came for lunch, and were welcomed by a very friendly hostess. Our waitress was equally friendly and fantastic. It's difficult to describe, but I loved the atmosphere of this place from the second I entered. Everyone was very upbeat. Lunch was upscale, but not out of control expensive. Sides are huge. We didn't need an appetizer (but couldn't resist the crab and artichoke dip). Salmon burger was delicious. We will be back for sure!

I have looked forward to dining at the new, upscale spot and today was just the right fit. This is an attractive place, inside and out. The interior is actually rather small, with a small bar that is also nice. There is a huge amount of comfortable looking outside seating on a long, narrow deck! I ordered the Potato Leek Soup ( cup is $6) to be followed by the Pork Schnitzel ($24). The cup of soup was on the table in about 10 minutes, and was rather large and beautifully plated. The soup was thick, creamy, and absolutely d... read more

We visited Sage & Salt for the first time before heading to a drama performance at UNCSA. We did not have reservations, so we opted for seats at the bar. Typically, we really love sitting at the bar of a restaurant--servers are often more attentive and entertainment is usually provided with kitchen/bar action. This was true here; however, the structure of the bar itself was just super awkward. The bar is granite and just seems higher and wider than most. It seemed difficult for bartenders to even hand a drink over, let alone... read more

This place takes the win for me! What an incredible experience, really, the whole thing. Sage and Salt Bistro is tucked away in a cute little row of places in Winston, right on the other side of 421, the opposite of downtown. My friends had suggested that we go to this place and it had definitely caught my eye on several social media platforms and ads. Turns out, one of our friends parent's owned the place and we were lucky to snag a table for 8 on a Friday night. Our server was so friendly and the management who were ... read more

I had the pleasure of spending an unforgettable evening here with colleagues. The ambiance, food, wine offerings, and service were all first class. The lump crab and artichoke dip and spare rib appetizers are must haves. My medium rare filet was perfectly cooked. My colleagues raved over the roasted chicken, salmon, and ribeye. My only regret is not saving enough room for the roasted plums, apple tart, and/or chocolate cake with coffee sabayon! Thank you to Sage & Salt Bistro for a perfect evening had by all.

We stumbled across this place searching for a date night downtown. They haven't been open long, so we were excited about trying a new place. When we walked in, the hostess seemed annoyed. Our server was Camille, she had the most bubbly adorable personality. We were seated outside where they had standing gas heaters and soft blankets. Oddly enough there was a fluorescent light shining from the inside out which was kind of a bummer. They turned the lights off eventually and it was very cozy. The food was AMAZING!!!!!!!! I ... read more

Wow! My wife has been seeing a lot of information online about Sage & Salt Bistro and noted this weekend was their first lunch service so we decided to make a reservation. Reservations can easily be made on Opentable. We also peaked at their lunch menu and were excited to try it. We didn't realize how close the restaurant is to Old Salem and the charming older neighborhood full of brick buildings and mature trees. We quickly realized the building is an old railroad depot building in which Sage & Salt occupies a portion of.... read more

Above and beyond! This new Bistro features creative and tasty cuisine in an open atmosphere. The speciality crafted Sage Martini soothes your palate in anticipation of the meal. The staff is well trained and attentive. The food is delicious! Period! The outside seating is comfortable. Sage & Salt Bistro could grow into a downtown gem once some minor things are tweaked. Some of the prices may make you gulp, but the meal will make you smile.
