LOVE Saltlik in Banff. Chicago style steak??? Yes Please! Thats why we decided to pop into Saltlik Calgary on the way to the airport, feed up here instead of eating rubbish airport food! Was slightly gutted that the Calagary restaurant doesn't offer the Scalloped Potatoes like they do in Banff, but I easily found something to replace them. Pricey, but well worth the cost. Good food and they don't quibble over substitutions. Wait staff is helpful and attentive. Atmosphere is up-scale but still very comfortable.
Overall our experience at Saltlik was extremely disappointing. Our server was nice but really did not know how to be a waitress - especially at a higher end restaurant. When she finally got around to taking our drink order about 20 minutes after we sat down we ordered a bottle of wine. After another 15 minutes, just before our salad arrived, she asked if we wanted the bottle of wine when the main course was to be served. Nicely prepared and tasty Wedge Salad woth gpat cheese, and large portion of fries. Core of wedge slightly bitter at the end. Very attentive and friendly staff. Will come back.
I must say I was disappointed in the quality of food. It we all had steak which all seemed to be overdone and were not as tender as you would expect. For $36.00 I would expect more than a bake potatoe on my plate a disappointing steak. Our server was pleasant and the ambiance was a nice setting.
I am on business in Calgary quite a bit. I find Saltlik's staff to be dependable and skilled, and the food is fantastic! A visit to the Saltlik is a wonderful way to spend an evening.
Ambiance was great - we were able to sit next to the fire which was nice on a cold evening. The wine list wasn't great and the server didn't know anything about the wine when we asked for a recommendation. The food was great though.
The deserts were wonderful, but we should have been told at the time of ordering that it would be a long wait while they make them. Some of us were on a tight schedule.
We had a great evening - very good food and service It was new years eve and we were a group of two male couples. When the server greeted us she asked us if it was guys night out and where were our wives? Needless to say we were a little surprised but that was the only oops of the evening We have dined here before and will again
