RecommendedMy family and I really enjoyed our day at the Jungle Gardens. It's a great place to take small children. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the reptile show was very fun and hands-on. For a small fee ($3) you can hold a bird or a baby gator and take as many pictures as you want. There are stations where you can feed flamingos, turtles, goats, or gators, just make sure to bring quarters with you for the feed machines. We had a blast, for the price, it's so worth it. My 4 year old and 9 year old LOVED IT. The staff is so friendly and welcoming as well, that goes a long way.
Had a blast! Loved all the animals and feeding the Flamingos was worth the trip!
We brought our 5 year old here as a surprise because she loves parrots! We were not sure what to expect as we are used to bigger theme parks and zoos. We were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful place. The staff is beyond friendly. John is a fantastic animal expert. We really enjoyed the shows! Most of all we loved the up close and personal interactions with the animals and the beautiful and luscious garden trails. We spent a full 4 hours here and enjoyed every minute. Sarasota grew up around this .... it was a wonderful place to educate children & the public about these species. Has "progress" damaged the SJG? What is the quality of life for the "residents"? Tragic - the original sign was deemed out of code & replaced. Yes - Mote & Dale Shields avian rehab are awesome.
I have come back every time I am in Sarasota for years. It's perfect for kids. It's not too pricey. It's less animals than a zoo but much more intimate with the ones they have. One of my favorite spots to come!!!
