Verified Renter If you love it being 77-80 degrees in your apartment then this is the place for you!! If you love everything like the water and power not working then this is the place for you!! If you love paying a lot of money and nothing working then this is the place for you!!! Ive been here for a month and the power has been out 3 times, so if you love all that then definitely come here!
Shirlington House embodies form over function Please do not be fooled by the looks of the complex; I will be the first to admit that their renovations have made the building look quite nice. However, this improvement is superficial at best. Let's start with the pretty language above: there is no "on site convenience store" at the moment; it closed in January 2018 and has yet to reopen. Verified Renter I would not recommend anyone about Shirlington House.
Verified Renter I absolutely love the location and the great views we get from our apartment. The units are spacious and it is a relatively quiet community at night. When the gym, market, and parking were accessible it was pretty perfect but with all this construction it has been a drag. If you work from home it might not be the best fit for you until the work on the building ends because it is a lot louder during the work day. Here's hoping for a speedy finish to get back to our lovely way of living.
I'll be moving out When I moved in almost 3.5 years ago, I thought that I would live at the Shirlington House as long as I was in the DC area (I will return to Colorado in a few years, after I retire). But my plans will probably change. The rent was high when I moved in, and it has been skyrocketing - my renewal offer is around $450/month more than my original rent was just 3.5 years ago! Verified Renter I used to love living in this shabby old place. New management has changed the atmosphere and I feel uncomfortable here. The building is even shabbier than before and the rents have increased with a promise of good things to come. Hopefully you can make improvements that you promised. Also having a person in charge with the authority take action is essential. Everything I ask for is deferred to some unknown entity and I do not get any response. Worst This place is not worth it! The whole experience living here has been nothing but inconvenient. The renovations and upgrades are a disaster. Hallways dirty, laundry rooms stink, elevator stinks. Management are not helpful.

Horrible management and filthy rodent infested apartments This place is absolute garbage. It used to be nice and affordable, not its busted and expensive. You’ll deal with liers like Glenn and Tiffany, and clueless managers like Amber. Water shut offs, horrible parking, and mice. They were drilling in our apartment and the place was a mess. Didn’t accommodate us until we threatened and then they wanted us to sign a non disclosure so other residents don’t come asking for the same accommodations.
