As a first-time homebuyer, I feel like the process was rushed in the beginning. I wasn't aware of several options when it came to designing my home.
My overall experience has been very sad, disappointing, and regretful. I felt backed into a corner and almost forced to continue with this builder. If I could redo it I would not have continued the process with this builder.
I would recommend Smith Douglas to my family and friends
Poor quality of work. I've been in my home for a month and there are cracks in the ceilings. I am being told by the warranty department that it's due to the home settling. I've built 4 homes built and knows what happens when a home settles. I've never experienced cracking in the ceiling.
My total experience throughout the process has been unpleasing and made much more difficult when it doesn't need to be or is warranted.
Unprofessional staff and poor build quality. Yards are not graded properly and everything is done at bare minimum quality.
Smith Douglas Homes - Houston provides very poor quality.
I'm not sure I'd recommend them to a friend because although I don't have anything against them personally, I'm not happy with way my yard looks, my appliances don't work well. For example, my dishwasher doesn't work when I put the pod in. It runs when the cycle finishes and the dishes are still dirty. Another example are my two commodes and washing machine, although with the washing machine, I'm not sure if I can blame that for them because it wasn't hooked up properly. I would recommend them to a friend, but not the preferred lender. Two years ago, I was interested in the beautiful homes up the street from my mom's house I development. In the process of me going through Smith Douglas Homes's preferred lender, I worked with Doug and it was a complete nightmare. There were mishaps after mishaps. He didn't do what he was supposed to be doing and gave me the run-around. He told me I needed eight thousand in cash for my closing, then told me thirteen thousand.
