We see Dr Takes, she’s incredible! She gives great advice and cares so much for her clients! ( I do wish that she was at University West all the time though)! Starch is less convenient, more travel time to get there.

rushed our 4.5 month old puppy to Starch last week with a blockage in her intestines. within 2 hours of dropping her off, she was in surgery, obstruction removed, and baby girl was on the mend. we cannot thank dr Henning and the entire staff enough for their passion and knowledge of our animals. they saved our pup!! THANK U!!!
I have been to several vet clinics within the Des Moines and West Des Moines area. Starch Animal Hospital is by far the best one I have been to and they have the most reasonable prices. Dr. Henning is the best. During a time of distress, he listened, comforted, and truly cared about my concerns and pet. I can't thank him enough for the support and understanding he has shown me. I would recommend this vet to anyone with a pet. <333
We love the vets here!! Dr. Halligan is one of our favorites, but they are all amazing. We have brought our pets here for over 20 years. We live in Altoona, but choose to come here!!!
We have found them to be super helpful and always willing to listen to our questions even when they are a bit over the top. We have a lab and two golden doodles who are happy to make a visit.
