The staff is great but they are not great returning calls after you are moved in. Otherwise pretty good place.

The staff is mostly friendly, and tries to do their best, but there doesn't seem to be enough for the residents. Often there are long wait times when you request aid. The facility is mostly kept clean and orderly, and usually decorated nicely for holidays and events. The grounds are lovely, very nice to take loved one outside in good weather. I was concerned about where my parents were planning on moving, but my concerns were quickly settled when I visited Suffolk by the River. The property was beautiful! the food was fabulous and the people working seemed to love their jobs and the residents. The person that answered our questions, Valerie, was kind and informative. I highly recommend Suffolk by the River.

Suffield by the River is a wonderful senior living community offering my 95 year old mother a safe place to continue living independently near her friends and family. My loved one moved from [community name removed] to Suffield and I think this place is great. This community is safe and friendly. I think Suffield has more activities and is bigger, but it is more expensive. However, I like the location and the food is good.
It doesn’t really feel like living in a facility, feels more like a hotel. Decent dining, beautiful grounds, very accessible, great staff, and a multitude of activities available every day including several outings a month.

We chose Suffield by the River because my parents had/ have friends there. That was a big item. It's a very well-run, nice facility. Compared to my in-laws experience in Pittsburgh, I think it's overpriced. But that could just be Connecticut.
