The service was unfriendly and the restaurant was smelly.
We arrived and told the waitress that we were going to the theatre and only had 1 hour to eat and asked if our food could me out quite quickly! We booked the set menu's to make it easier! The starters came out quickly and was nice, the main course took 40 minutes to come out and the rice was so over cooked that I would have been embarrassed serving this up to friends let alone paying customers. Thai Square, Covent Garden, London They kindly changed my booking a number of times on the phone but when we got there, they put us in a corner and forgot about us. The staff weren't rude but certainly not attentive either, too soft spoken so you had to ask them to repeat everything, and too eager to clear away plates. There are far better Thai places in London for a similar or better price and a better experience.
Thai Square Covent Garden: Nice deco and smiling staff were the first impression. It went downhill from there. Restaurant was humid; waiter appeared new and didn't understand most of the questions asked; "weeping tiger" steak was tiny-portioned and stringy and we weren't asked how we wanted it done; prawn and scallop pot had and 2 prawns and 1 scallop in it and a vast amount of curiously sweet glass noodle. After £70 we left quite hungry. Won't rush back.
Although the food was ok my overall experience of Thai Sqaure wasn't. The restaurant is large, and i felt the tables for two were really squashed together. We also felt very rushed as they have double the amount of staff than needed so as soon as you put your knife and fork down the plates are taken away immediately. This place is perfect for a quick pre-Theatre dinner but dont go here expecting a long romantic evening as you'll be out within hour & 1/2. Watch out for the 12.5% service charge.
