Nice, solid thai fare. tasty, quick turnaround and decent ambience
Service and ambience are great. Very attentive staff despite it being a busy Friday lunch time in the City. However, a balance of authentic Thai flavours and flavours that are adapted to suit the locals' taste is needed. Food is sweet-led. It does not have to be chilli-hot but it lacks the usual 'kick' of Thai flavours. My western colleagues agreed. Having said that, Thai Square is not the only restaurant that is doing this to Thai food. Hard to recommend for an authentic Thai experience - which is more difficult to find now... read more
Thai Square is a very recent discovery for me, and it was so good the first time that I went back in less than a week. The food is excellent, and despite it getting very busy at lunchtime, i've not had long waits for food to appear. The menu is extensive but not overwhelmingly large - the specials are very good, especially the Chilli Lamb. Thai Square is fast becoming a firm favourite of mine.
Given how full this restaurant can get at lunchtime, it was surprisingly much less busy of an evening. We had an unhurried reunion dinner, hailed by all as extremely good. Special praise for the chicken with cashew nuts. Everyone wants to go back for the next one.
It was the busiest I have seen it but the service was good and the food to its usual standard. The tofu with cashew nuts was nicely done, the nuts were not soggy, and the brocolli side is a reliable green. My guest liked the Pad Siu.
The only thing to marr the experience was that one of the three of us had to wait for their food to arrive but the service was pretty friendly. The mocktail was tweaked as requested and everyone thought their food was very good.
Nice Atmosphere and ambience. Romantic.
This was our first visit to Thai Square in Mansion House and, although a rather large restaurant (I prefer something a little bit more intimate), it was not too noisy. I shared a nice lunch with my friend, although the food could have been a little spicier for me but, all in all, a nice lunch. The food was served hot and plentiful and the service was excellent.
Being a City Worker, what I like about this restaurant is unlike all the other restaurants it never seems to be fully at 100% capacity in terms of tables taken, hustle & bustle and noise (not sure about Friday evening). This means you can have a decent conversation, not be sat on top of by a neighbouring table and recieve decent service. Its not the cheapest for what you get but the food is always tasty, generously sized and seems to come to the table very quickly. Their cocktails are also very decent and rival other local b... read more
