Thai Square in Putney is excellent and the best around.
great food, with attentive service
I was very pleasantly surprised at the Thai Square at Putney Bridge last night. Other reviews talked of bad experiences, but it quickly became apparent why that was. There are two worlds at the Thai Square at Putney Bridge - the teenager-targetted, bouncer-guarded bar and nightclub downstairs; and the smart, elegant and friendly upstairs restaurant. Starting with a drink downstairs was slightly discouraging; but upstairs the service was exemplary, the food delicious and the ambience perfect.
I like Putney Bridge Thai Square. The restaurant itself is really lovely, the food is great and getting a seat my the river is splendid. What lets this place down is the service - really slow - we had to wait a good ten minutes at our table to order a drink. Menu's arrived half an hour later. The toliet had no working hand dryer. Having said that, special food requirements were catered for and food yummy. I would go to this place - just not if you are in a hurry.
Great location, good food and good service, my only issue with Thai square was that they didn't tell us until we got there that our table of 12 would have to be finished by 9 (arrived at 7.30)
We had a very enjoyable evening. The setting is beautiful and the food was succulent. The service was adequate but could have been more attentive.
A beautiful restaurant with superb views over the river, decorous service and fiery food. It's a treat if you love Thai cooking.
Food was nicely presented. Tasted good; a little on the sweet side. Wine list was OK. Great location and view, but can get a little bit noisy if seated near the stairs (lively bar below).
The lobster was fantastic and the ambience of this restaurant is similar to its Central London counterparts, if not better.
