Thai Square Strand

About this business

Thai Square has been a staple on the Strand since 1996. It was the very first Thai Square restaurant to open its doors, so it has an extra special place in our hearts. Conveniently located on the Strand, a major thoroughfare in Central London, our restaurant offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We particulary chose this restaurant as it was very close to the Savoy Theatre, where we were going after our meal. It was recommended by the Savoy Theatre website and said "on showing your tickets for the show you will receive a 20% discount". Beware....this offer was not valid at Thai Square when we asked for it in January. The restaurant manager said that the offer had stopped at end of December, so we were very disappointed not to get the discount! The food, service and ambience were good, and we would have rated it high... read more

Food adequate for a pre theatre venue. I didnt like the cold salad sprinkled on hot food. If a garnish is used, should be placed on side of plate of hot food, so as not to cool the food. I personally would have preferred that the garnish of bean sprouts and shredded carrots been thrown in the cooked noodles and given a quick stir before serving. This would have kept the whole dish warm and given the "garnish" a crisp warm taste.

The food is not as high quality & authentic as other thai restaurants.

Great food, although the rice portions are a little small. Cheaper than its Covent Garden cousin for the same dishes and lovely ambience.

Good quality food at excellent prices. In and out very quickly which is great pre theatre.

We ate there pre-theatre. It's an ideal venue for theatres in or around Aldwych. Service was good, food up to their usual good standards. Our table was booked for 6pm - the restaurant wasn't very busy and we had finished by 7pm (although we did only have one course). The food is tasty without being spicy (unless you go for the spicy options, which are clearly marked on the menu). One of our party is a vegetarian and there was a good selection of items on the menu for them to choose from.

We were seated in a rear dining room which didn't have much ambience. The food was okay, nothing to rave about but what I would expect from a chain of Thai restaurants.

My wife and I had one of the set menus and found the food to be delicious and plentiful. I would recommend the restaurant.

Had a pleasant meal at Thai Square on the Strand. The duck spring rolls were particularly good. The main-course curry was nice too but lacked the wow factor. That said, I'd happily eat there again.
