My dad used to live here. His room was pretty small. We had to buy a refrigerator and microwave for him. He liked The Blake. He thought it was nice but he didn't do a lot of the activities. The people were nice there.
My loved one enjoys living at The Blake. The activities, food and compassionate staff have created a new "life" for my loved one.
excellent facility in my short experience with them
My mother was there for two months. She hated it there. I hated it as well. People sitting in wheelchairs and urinating and no one noticing it. A woman walking down the hall after having soiled herself, crying and no one noticed. One of the servers at meals practically threw the plates on the table. No respect at all for the patients. We moved mom out of there. She lived with family until she passed away last [date removed]. She was happy. For the price of Beacon, I found it unacceptable. No telling how mom was treated when ... read more
They need more staffing. There is not enough for the number of residents living there. Dining area needs a good cleaning and tables that don't wiggle. It's too dark in the dining room. Devoid of any type of atmosphere. The food is totally gross and at times unrecognizable as to what it is. I have noticed that sometimes a staff member would roughly place the plate of food in front of the resident rather than serving the food. It was as though they were feeding animals, not human beings. Sad.
The staff tires to interact with the family but often the voicemail box is always full, and it is diificult try to get someome to return your call. The food is not bad, it seems to be okay. They offer a lot of activities. The price of care services increases for evey little thing, that your loved one needs. Look into other places for your loved one, prior to choosing this community. In addition, they have a huge turnover in upper management.
I would recommend you find another community. The quality of care and the staff ratios are awful and these are some of the reason I suggest another community for your loved one. They didn't have activities for memory care residents. The only thing they did was watch tv.
My husband, Don Meade, was in your facility for two weeks in [date removed], on several occasions, the nurse or nurses' aide was very slow to responded for ca" help"! One of the nurses was given an order from the Dr. for a hemoglobin test to be done that day...I personally tracked down the nurse on duty and gave it to him by hand! The test was done the next day AFTER my husband had fallen backwards from a standing position and hit the floor hard in the dining room!!!! THEN the test was done...I was called LATER....since the ... read more
The new director leaves much to be desired. The bottom line is all that matters. When facility was “The Blake” with [name removed] as Ditector it was amazing! Since selling out (in many ways) to become “The Beacon” it has gone downhill. No Sunday worship services - [name removed], the director said we are no longer welcome or permitted to visit and share the Lord’s supper with residents, etc. last I asked there were no RNs and only one LPN (although the helpers and PAs call themselves “nurses”) in staff for 125++ residents!!... read more
