The restaurant week menu seemed very limited which makes sense. However, the dinner option for $55 including appetizer, main, and dessert, didn't have nearly enough food to be filling (that coming from an average height and weight guy in his late twenties for context). The Caesar salad was okay but mine had a strange and bad aftertaste as I neared the bottom of the plate, not to my liking but others in our party seemed to enjoy it. The Diane Steak came out really rare when I asked for medium rare, which was mended when reque... read more

We sat for 20 on a Tuesday without being greeted. When the waiter (Leo) FINALLY came to the table, he stood as far as possible away from as if we had COVID. He asked if we needed a minute and I told him we had already been waiting a while, he disregarded as if I said nothing at all. We immediately left! I could never eat here! I would give it a 0/10! I guess that’s the “black treatment”… (Westheimer location)

Business response:

Theresa, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very glad to hear that you received wonderful service and enjoyed the atmosphere during your lunch with us. We are disappointed, however, that the food did not meet the same standard. We take great pride in our cuisine, and a 2-star experience is certainly not what we want for any of our guests. We appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide you with the complete dining experience we strive for. Kindly, The Chef’s Table T... read more

I went to Chef’s table for my husband’s birthday yesterday because I saw it on Houston’s restaurant week. The reviews were also stellar, but our experience was far from. I don’t really write negative reviews, I usually just take the L, but I feel like a lot of the reviews on here are misleading for whatever reason. It starts with the booking, where I specified the special occasion. I reminded the hostess it was my husband’s birthday during our meal and if they can bring out a candle with dessert, which they never did. The wa... read more

Business response:

Lama, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are very disappointed to hear that your experience did not reflect the level of hospitality we strive to provide, especially while celebrating your husband’s birthday. We sincerely apologize that the birthday details noted on your reservation were missed. A special occasion should be acknowledged thoughtfully, and we understand how disappointing it was to have both the candle request overlooked and the check presented to your husband after you had mentio... read more

I went with my family for my birthday dinner. I had Chilean Seabass one of my favorites unfortunately it had no flavor at all. I asked the waiter for salt and some melted butter. I waiter brought me melted butter with garlic. I poured it over the fish, but it still didn’t help. I thought it was just me so I had some other people in my group. Taste it and they agreed I expected more for $60 piece of fish. Some other people in my group had chicken Florentine. They stated that there was no taste of theirs and it was very bland ... read more

Business response:

Bella, Thank you for choosing The Chef’s Table for your birthday dinner. While we are glad you enjoyed the service, atmosphere, and Brussels sprouts, we are truly sorry that your overall dining experience did not meet expectations. Our Chilean sea bass should be flavorful, buttery, and worthy of its price, and you should not have needed to add salt and butter to enjoy it. We are equally disappointed to hear that you felt the Chicken Florentine and mashed potatoes lacked flavor. We take full responsibility for missing the mar... read more

We set outside on the patio as usual. The service was extremely slow on Sunday night. We got the drinks 20 minutes after we were seated. Our waitress stated that she was pulling double duty as a bartender. But we were on a receiving end for poor service. Not sure about going back. It was just too annoying. Sorry.

What is the point of a reservation if you are told there is a 30 minute wait for your table when you arrive?

Business response:

Hi Carol, Thank you for your feedback. We completely understand how frustrating it is to arrive for a reservation and experience a wait. Unfortunately, severe weather that evening forced us to move several patio reservations indoors for the safety and comfort of our guests. While we did our best to accommodate everyone, the unexpected loss of outdoor seating created delays that impacted some reservation times. We know this is not the experience our guests expect, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciat... read more
