Owner John Rupp's newest venture is a winner. Only open a week or so the food and service is right on. Décor was done in a 20's retro look with modern twists. Drinks were fun and featured names of some of the famous past guest. Fitzgerald and Zelda tasted great. One thing I did learn was how many spirits are distilled in our neck of the woods. Anyone ever heard oh Norseman barrel aged rum??? Food was exceptionally good. We had the deviled eggs with lobster and the bacon, fig ricotta toast for starters. We all opted for the b... read more
We live in the neighborhood so we were eager to check the Commodore out. Great decor, especially in the bar. The place really captured the art-deco look of the era, and the historical details in the menu were a nice touch. The gold ceilings in the lounge area are stunning. The service was excellent, particularly for a place that had just opened. We enjoyed our meal, although the food was not outstanding. Everything was done well, but nothing stood out as being spectacular. The soup was excellent, though. Also, the dining are... read more
Great evening...our first time there...great ambiance and we loved the art deco look and feel....the dining rooms did have a noticeable temperature difference...it was a bit chilly where we were. The Commodore is loud so if u are looking for a romantic quiet dinner, this is not it. It's a fun place not pretentious but very good quality food. Pricing is moderate too....we expected it to be expensive so nice surprise. We will most likely try it again.
Very beautiful decor, the tiled floor dining room was nice to look at but got fairly loud as more people came, great server, excellent rose wine and lobster deviled eggs, not so delicious pork sandwich (dry, mostly flavorless), my friend almost fell in the small womens room cuz it was hard to see the step down as she left the sink area, incredible pictures on the wall, and awesome looking deco bar
Yes, my wife and I enjoyed it. It been closed since the 80's (I have visited it once back then). They kept the Art Deco of the 20's when it was first open. F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zela visited it often. Everything was great. The soup of the day (a cream of potato?) was to die for. We had the PORK SCALOPPINI and BRAISED RABBIT, we enjoyed every bit. My wife had the CREME BRULEE TART, she loved it. I thought it was OK. Mix drinks were fun, a throwback to the 20's. All in all, we enjoyed it and looking forward to going back aga... read more
We were a little reluctant about trying a new place so soon after opening. No worries! Everything was absolutely perfect. The Commodore is so beautiful! The service was excellent and the food was the best I've had in a long time! The atmosphere, though vibrant, is also relaxing and it was nice to see people dressed up and not in jeans and baseball hats! We started with the snacks and relishes and a couple crafted cocktails. For the main course we ordered the sole and the ribeye steak. Both were done perfectly! The brown butt... read more
The Commodore has a great atmosphere. The servers are very knowledgeable on the menu and the history of the Commodore. It's like a step back into the 20's with the decor. I will be coming back!
