We were semi-regulars at the Commodore when it closed to the public 30 years ago. We stopped back a few times hoping it had quietly re-opened. Now it's back and better than ever.
Service was questionable. Friendly but not well trained. I was surprised based on the background of the GM. Food was terrific. Great menu. Great lounge area. The space was beautiful . Bartenders are very professional and know how to make a real cocktail. We will definitely be back. Hope service is improved. If Open Table has a section on the reservation form form for notes I would expect the restaurant to read it. This night was a special occasion and was not acknowledged. You would expect a higher level of service.
The food was great. The setting is beautiful. We just wish that it wasn't so noisy. The conversation of our foursome was punctuated by way too many "What?" What did you say?"
My wife and I had a great dinner here. The food was splendid (the cauliflower soup is highly recommended), and the cocktails are also a treat. We'll be returning soon.
Great ambiance in old St. Paul! Wonderful cocktails- I recommend the "Fitzgerald". Hostess staff new and young- they need some coaching- waiter in the lounge great- one at the table just ok. Food was good, but not hot- assuming because they are still working out the kinks. We live in crocus hill and will go back.
An elegant and lovely historic dining experience. From the moment we sat down we immediately thought of friends we wanted to bring back.
The evening spent with friends at the Commodore was better than expected. The service was outstanding. The servers were very knowledgeable regarding food and drink choices. They were interactive and made the evening fun. The food was well prepared and very tasty. I will definitely visit the Commodore again.
It was nice to see the old Gal again after a long absence. Décor was beautiful and wait staff attentive and friendly. Love the mixed drinks made with local ingredients. My wife's first engagement party was held here in 65 and she found it very comforting to see it again after all these years. We will return.
It's a bit early to judge the Commodore - it's been open less than a month. No question that it's beautiful, and the food is very good. Our dinner took a REALLY long time, and the dinner menu is tiny compared to the drinks menu. Parking is a problem as well. I think many of those issues will get sorted out.
