Get directionsMy stay in The Laurels Care Home for 5 weeks after having a hip operation. The first concern was that I was to have what I want each day, this did not happen. I was in the same sheets for a fortnight and I had to ask them to be changed. The room was very comfortable but for the positioning of the two doors. The food was good but the breakfast did not work out. 2 carers brought bruises and blood to my operated leg. I was very happy with 3 members of the staff who were especially caring.
My mother has been at The Laurels for nearly 4 years. During this time she has been well cared for and I have found the staff helpful, caring and friendly. I especially like that many of them are locals and therefore have a connection with us and mum. Her care needs have increased as her dementia has got worse but so far seems to cope. We hope she remains reasonably happy and can stay where she is as if she had to move she would be very confused.
My mother has been at The Laurels for about four years. We have been very satisfied with her care over that time. We especially like it because it is small (number of residents), it is clean and the food is mostly 'English' (this suits Mum). Most important the staff are kind, patient and local - they know places and people that Mum knows.
