Located in Northern California’s Mendocino County there is a skunk running through the redwood forest, but this isn’t any skunk, it’s the world famous Skunk Train. The California redwoods, pristine coastline, and award winning vineyards are all a part of the landscape of what makes Mendocino County such an amazing place and home to this 131-year-old train.

Nice ride but very short. Out of Ft. Brag I remember in past times, going quite a way longer up into the hills where the engine disconnected and moved to the opposite end, then we returned to Ft. Brag. Now they go about 1/2 the distance and push back to the station. LOOKED like there was a slide that has covered the tracks ahead. And the slide looked old... What is the story Skunk Train? Will you ever clear the track and resume the ride up to the old switching area? Next time will go to Willits and take that ride.
The skunk train is very relaxing as you go through the woods. It was raining when I went and I sat in a covered car and stood outside. The experience was awesome. It’s so worth the time to get there. I can’t wait to go again.
