My parents moved into The Village just before Covid hit. It was a good move for them, as it has been a safe and comfortable place for them during the pandemic. They shared a very nice two bedroom on the independent living side until my mom passed away last month from natural causes. Because of Covid, it was difficult to find a place for a reception following my mom's funeral. Georgina, the dining room manager, really came through for us. Unfortunately the care at the Village is quite poor and often dangerous if your loved one is in assisted living or memory care. When someone is in independent living, care is appropriate and generally good except for meal quality. My parents lived here over 10 years and when my mother was unable to care for herself Assisted Living became her only option. I cannot say enough about "The Village"....my mom is 86 years young and this lifestyle is keeping her active, social and healthy. She is as busy as she wants to be (very active) and some choose not to be. The classes like aquasize and volleyball (with balloons) keeps spirits high. Bingo is huge as is Rummycube. I'm heading over there now for their holiday luncheon!

I have struggled with the decision to update my review because there are some wonderful people who work at The Village - but I feel I need to alert people. It's my hope that by posting this publicly, they'll take action to correct things. My mom was fortunate to have a wonderful private duty care giver who stayed with her a good portion of the day and night, BUT she couldn't be there 24/7 so I started to spend more time there, including overnight. I moved my parents from Florida to Independent living at The Village  of Sherman Oaks In April, 2016.  They had 3 and 1/2 wonderful years.  The elevators were a problem and the the food depended on the "new" chef and there were several.  However,  we didn't care because my parents were happy.   In the fall of 2019, my parents needed more help and we hired aides for a while but that got costly and didn't seem to be enough.  Thus, we moved my parents in November 2019 to assisted living.  Jeff La Belle was the new director and... read more

Thank you to the staff at The Village, and especially Director Jeff LaBelle, for working so hard to try to keep all the residents healthy and safe during these very stressful times. I have watched as the safety precautions have changed as the needs of the community and orders from the state have changed and I appreciate all the communication the families receive. My mom would have been very vulnerable all alone in her house and I am thankful she now lives is in a community that cares and pays attention to their residents.

The people at this facility could care less about business. Calls don't get answered and when you leave a message no one returns your call. Stay away from even talking to Patricia.

Our recent visit to The Village in Sherman Oaks was to to assess its suitability for a family member. We were so impressed! The facility is lovely, and so much to do. Movie theater, beautiful pool, card room, workout facility, lovely dining room, and so on. The staff is so friendly and informative. The rooms are clean and well-designed. I think we found the winner!

I had the need for a respite care facility and went to the Village At Sherman Oaks. I met Alison White and from that moment on everything was easy. I cannot say enough marvelous experiences with Alison. At every turn when I needed her assistance, even recently with another family member, she went out of her way to provide professional care and competent attentions.
