Our recent visit to The Village in Sherman Oaks was to to assess its suitability for a family member. We were so impressed! The facility is lovely, and so much to do. Movie theater, beautiful pool, card room, workout facility, lovely dining room, and so on. The staff is so friendly and informative. The rooms are clean and well-designed. I think we found the winner!

I had the need for a respite care facility and went to the Village At Sherman Oaks. I met Alison White and from that moment on everything was easy. I cannot say enough marvelous experiences with Alison. At every turn when I needed her assistance, even recently with another family member, she went out of her way to provide professional care and competent attentions. The facility has unprofessional staff.... they loose caregivers personal information and don't seem to care. I was on the phone with Christian asking him why do they always misplace people's personal information???? He answer was.. "Did you call here to give me your opinion or is there anything you need!!! Very RUDE. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he HUNG up on me

This place is infested with bed bugs. They are trying to treat them by treating each unit but they need to exterminate the entire building. They continue to find hundreds of bed bugs in each unit and then each elderly tenant needs to be moved for days which is incredibly hard. Mattress box spring everything thrown away and still beg bugs throughou the building. We are spending money replacing items and hiring extra care for our mother. It is a nightmare and they are not handling it properly.

I recently moved in one of my Parents into the Assisted Living and lets just say that the director Milagros Gonzalez made the transition extremely easy for me and my mother. I think it helps that I didn't have any unrealistic expectations because I know elderly care is expensive and just like everything it is a business. Milagros was so kind, and was able to explain the regulations and policies, she was also able to address all my concerns. My father spent the last ten months of his life at 'The Village of Sherman Oaks' and we absolutely have no regrets. He moved from his lovely house in the hills into a beautiful one bedroom apartment that had a huge kitchen, nice bedroom, living room and most important a roomy walk in closet. The maintenance crew were very efficient and helpful when it came to hanging his artwork and flat screen tv. His apartment was full of sunshine along with a great view. If you're unable to be present for a parent in assisted living and even in the finality of Hospice Care; this is not the place to be. What used to be an experienced staff of caregivers has been reduced to people who seem to have less training than what one learns normally in taking care of your kids or a parent. The price can go up steeply very quickly and the services provided are less than what I'd want for someone watching my dog let alone my parent. I love all the people working here. They are all super nice to the residents and their families. For years they had a problem with the elevators, but they seem to have corrected the issue now (fingers crossed). The food is pretty good and the facilities are beautiful. It is expensive though and they constantly raise prices while lowering amenities.
