I recently moved in one of my Parents into the Assisted Living and lets just say that the director Milagros Gonzalez made the transition extremely easy for me and my mother. I think it helps that I didn't have any unrealistic expectations because I know elderly care is expensive and just like everything it is a business. Milagros was so kind, and was able to explain the regulations and policies, she was also able to address all my concerns. If you're thinking of moving your parents just know to have realistic expectations. M... read more

My father spent the last ten months of his life at 'The Village of Sherman Oaks' and we absolutely have no regrets. He moved from his lovely house in the hills into a beautiful one bedroom apartment that had a huge kitchen, nice bedroom, living room and most important a roomy walk in closet. The maintenance crew were very efficient and helpful when it came to hanging his artwork and flat screen tv. His apartment was full of sunshine along with a great view. The staff at 'The Village" was always helpful and cheery and made al... read more

If you're unable to be present for a parent in assisted living and even in the finality of Hospice Care; this is not the place to be. What used to be an experienced staff of caregivers has been reduced to people who seem to have less training than what one learns normally in taking care of your kids or a parent. The price can go up steeply very quickly and the services provided are less than what I'd want for someone watching my dog let alone my parent. Hospice came in and did a great job and left instructions and yet my Da... read more

I love all the people working here. They are all super nice to the residents and their families. For years they had a problem with the elevators, but they seem to have corrected the issue now (fingers crossed). The food is pretty good and the facilities are beautiful. It is expensive though and they constantly raise prices while lowering amenities.

My mom and dad were both here and in independent and then assisted living. The experience was nothing short of fantastic. I have read a lot of the negative reviews on this site and the only one I agree with is the elevator problem. It never seems to get rectified. But the med techs are fantastic, Sandra is fantastic and activities people are all first rate. The facilities are the very best from the putting green to the dining room. I read on one of the reviews that someone one was having trouble getting help to urinate. The ... read more

My Mother has lived there for less than a year and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. It is a fire trap. There are only two elevators in her building. There are hundreds of people living in that building. Since she has lived there, one of the two elevators is out of service on average every 2 to 3 weeks. I have learned that The Village is under contract with an elevator repair company. That company gets paid whether or not the elevator breaks down. Because of this there is not an incentive to come right out and fix ... read more

YELP REVIEW If you are seeking a residential living facility for your aging mom or dad, The Village at Sherman Oaks looks like a promising setting. The entry is lovely, the amenities attractive, and the environment is clean and well-maintained (except for the elevators). Nevertheless, behind the scenes, there are some other factors you might want to check out before you commit to this location. My mother is a long-time resident at the Village. During that time, she has seen a decline in service and quality that has discourag... read more

This place is not good for assisted living, especially if your loved one needs help getting to the bathroom. They do NOT have enough care givers and the "medical tech" is not a trained nurse. This is a very aggravating situation for any resident who needs help getting to the bathroom because they will have to wait at least 15 minutes for someone to arrive to help -- too late for a person who does not want to urinate in their Depends. The "med tech" ignores Hospice instructions and calls 911 if your loved one falls, even t... read more

I am writing this to say that yes, The Village has many social activities, some kind staff and a welcoming atmosphere. But, my warning to everyone who has loved ones in assisted living; you MUST get to know ALL the med techs! Ask questions about what the rules and the protocols are for emergencies. AND...what happens with those rules and protocols if it`s a weekend?? My loved one, frankly, died (in mine and other`s opinion) on a weekend because of a careless med tech who was in charge. It turns out the particular med tech ha... read more
