We made our reservation through open table but the host didn’t appear to have a spot reserved for us so we were stuck at a makeshift table in a super noisy and high traffic area. After telling our waiter we were leaving, he quickly had us reseated. Dinner for 2 was $200 and the lasagna was burned and tasted terrible and the halibut came out cold! NYC has so many wonderful restaurants, I’d advise anyone to avoid this one.
Use to be one of my favorites. Veal was terrible this time. So disappointing and waiter didn’t understand English and got our whole order wrong several times. Such a shame.
Chaos is the description. Food was overcooked. The chicken parm which used to be great was like leather- the pasta bolognese was all water. Place was a zoo. Reservations were in line with walk-ins and no order. I shall never return.
Courses arrived in wrong order, plates cleared while one member of group was still eating and next course arrived immediately after previous one, so no time to relax between courses. Lovely looking place with really nice staff but felt like we were being rushed through so they could close up. Suppose to be a special night but ultimately felt very poor value for money.
Garlic bread had the consistency of rope. The waitress made several foul-ups with the order. Pasta came with hardly any sauce and she forgot the meatballs. She asked if I wanted a drink and before I had a chance to say yes, she did an about face and walked away. That said, except for this waitress, the staff was very pleasant and I've had good experiences here in the past. As for recommending this restaurant, my actual response is "maybe."
I am a "usual customer." As a subscriber to series at both Carnegie Hall and City Center, Tratt. Dell'Arte is my eatery of choice. Last night was below expectations and a cause for this season. The noise level was so high that I could not hear my dinner companion sitting across from me, even when I turned my hearing aids up to full volume. She could not hear me either, and she does not need hearing aids. The service was barely acceptable. I am accustomed to friendly and prompt service from the wait-staff. The hors d'oeuvres ... read more
I go to NY about six times per year. I remember a terrific meal there about 15 years ago. Either my memory has declined or the restaurant has. I would guess it is a combination of both. I can't tell you how terrible it is now. At nine o'clock at night I could wear sunglasses it is so bright, high decibel sound (why are all these people in this terrible place?) and the food was very disappointing. We order by course due to generally experiencing service rush (no one wants their main course coming when they are eating their sa... read more
Food was cold. Sent out and came in again just microwaved. Veal was 60 USD cold and grey inside. No value for money at all.
The food, although tasty, was lukewarm. It arrived quickly. We felt rushed and most of our plates were cleared and we were offered desserts before one guest had even finished eating their main course. We felt the wine was very expensive.
