The food was mediocre at best and many levels less than years gone bye. Will most likely never return. The noise level was loud even though not even half filled. The waiter could not wait to clear the table even though one person was still eating so we asked him to wait until finished. Very poor training. The drinks were absurd in pricing and much higher than other restaurants. Had a salad with burrata cheese and they forgot to put the cheese in the salad NOT A PLEASANT DINING EXPERIENCE FO SURE AND WE WERE REGULARS IN THE P... read more
My appetizer salad never came, the Caesar salad the others had didn’t have much flavor. The pizza had zero flavor either, and the crust was barely a pizza crust, more like a crispy wafer. Ravioli was good, the other pasta dish was decent. Definitely better options around for the price.
We sat in the bar area at a table and it was a bit loud. The service was okay, not super attentive and took longer to put our orders in than it did for the kitchen to prepare our food. Food was marginal, nothing to write home about and there are far better Italian restaurants in New York City.
This is our first time back after the pandemic. They have changed their famous fried artichoke recipe- it now has mayo and tastes awful - would never order it again!! They also no longer have their signature meringue cake for dessert!!! Without that, why go there, even tho their pizza is still very good?
I have been going to this restaurant since the day it opened in 1989. It is a tradition between myself and friends visiting NY City. I have noticed that the quality has been slowly sliding downhill. And this latest meal was so uninspiring that it will be my last. I had the seafood risotto, which the menu said included red prawn, calamari, clams and octopus. What I got was gummy risotto with a half dozen frozen baby shrimp, something that might have been octopus, literally a small tenacle which I assume was calameri and NO cl... read more
Absolutely terrible food. To say if was overpriced was a gross understatement. It was practically inedible.
The service was good. The food (other than pasta) was subpar. The $15 dessert was nothing special. The antipasto was tasty; it again was not as special as the price. The bread was very oily. We were seated against a drafty exit door at the very front. There were much nicer seats in the back. The pasta was good. The veal was tough and unpleasant. The waiter was pleasant but didn’t know much.
I have dined at Trattoria for 30+ years and been satisfied with food - esp the vegetable antipasto bar. This experience was very underwhelming. The staff were not as refined and friendly. The food - both portions and quality were below par. The pizza was very undercooked. We had pictures from same pizza a year prior. This one had barely touched the oven. The antipasto ( veggie) was served in a partitioned plate. All items came out cold ( green beans, eggplant caponata and cauliflower milanese ) which rendered them less tasty... read more
Restaurant is too crowded... too many tables jammed in everywhere. The restaurant feels claustrophobic as too many tables are jammed in everywhere. We couldn't wait to leave the place. I will not go back.
