This is a difficult place in which to dine due to its proximity to Carnegie Hall which draws in a hugh crowd. Still, any restaurant should have the ability to serve well made food especially at these prices. If the "chef" were in a restaurant in Italy they would have run him out of town for sending out a dish where the pasta was all glopped together in a bland sauce covered overcooked seafood! There is no excuse for that at any price. My wife's veal picatta was only ok (small letters). This review probably will not alter any... read more
Service was outstanding as was the food. Some dishes are huge (Lasagna) and some are tiny (tomato linguine). Desserts were amazing. Ask for a table as booths are quite squishy. Would definitely go back.
Great atmosphere, delicious meal! I love the antipasto bar and the carbonara never fails to impress!
Very loud. Food is decent but menu lacks salads and decent appetizers. Good, friendly service.
After over 30 years of eating here the food is still great.
OBSESSED! They read all of my requests and knew beforehand about all of my allergies. They also saw I noted it was my anniversary and brought us two glasses of champagne. The food is always amazing, the staff is always incredible, and this is one of New York's staple restaurants.
Amazing, genuine Italian food! The waiter was very kind and the manager recommended a wine that matched what we asked for. We never had to fill our own glass because the waiter was very attentive. My sister’s service dog was even offered a bowl of water - so kind of them! And they put a little sparkler in her tiramisu for her birthday celebration. Their specialty pastas were tasty and so was the antipasto bar. Highly recommend!
The higher end Italian food was wonderful and pleasant good service. Will be back.
This is a restaurant that is an old stand-by. A star on the menu is Pepperoni Chicken Parmigiana. The downside is that it’s beyond noisy upstairs or down. And a huge minus for me is the lack of bread for the table. They only have expensive garlic bread. While delicious, it’s hard to cut through the bottom, even with a serrated knife. A salumi board that I think is over priced for what you get. Pasta portions are relatively small. That said, I’ve never had a bad meal. The food is consistently good.
