Best Italian in the city, hands down.
This is one of my favorite places in NYC. I've had both a nice dinner with my husband and a fantastic dinner with girlfriends here. The service is outstanding and the location is great for theater, etc.
the food and service are awesome
Restaurant is very well located. Food was ok - veal chop had too much sauce, probably to disguise the fact that the veal was mediocre quality. Service was very good - waiter very experienced and friendly.

I love Trattoria Dell'Arte. I have been going for years and will continue going for years to come. It's friendly and professional, comfortable and flexible. They greet you at the door like they are actually genuinely happy to see you! The waitstaff is incredible. The food superb but not overly fussy or grandiose. It's comfort food on steroids. Our waiter John Zullo was exceptional. He aquired 5other tables 3 minutes after we sat down but attended to all with speed and efficiency. We enjoyed watching him. He was "all business" when he took our order, etc. but when I complimented him, at the end of our meal, he broke out into a BIG smile. The food was great and the atmosphere would have been perfect if the small light at our table had been working so we could read the menu. We had to hold a candle up to it to see it. The Trattoria never disappoints.
Our fourth visit and once again a good experience. A real find. Coming from out of town, we like a restaurant where the food, ambiance and price is is good and reliable. This restaurant fits the bill perfectly. Food and service were excellent. It seems to be a locals spot as well which is also a good indicator. I tried selections from their antipasto bar and was very pleased with the selection and flavors. My husband had a seafood risotto and was not disappointed. We will definitely return.
