I wrote the first review on this board 2 1/2 years ago. My mother is now looking forward to her 98th Birthday this fall. She's had her second hip replacement during that time and returned to Wesley Palms after a few months in at The Cove. Wesley Palms checked on her frequently in the hospital and at the Cove and held my hand through all of it. She also received a diagnosis of cancer which is not treatable at her age. I watched my grandmother bloom again. All due to Wesley Palms. Don't hesitate to encourage a loved one to move here.
First off, Wesley Palms offers Independent Living and Assisted Living facilities. They do not have Nursing Care so if that's what you need, look elsewhere. They do have a medical center on-site. Housing is cottages or in the main building. My Mother-In-Law has been at Wesley Palms for about three years and loves it there. The staff is friendly and mostly helpful. Dated, older apartment might be fire hazard. Troublesome cramped and space-inefficient kitchen with cabinets made of cheap non-wood materials. Distant ocean bay with receding water line is not a high quality view and is barely visible from inadequate smaller side apartment windows. Carpet dirty and fringed with wear. Do not let the outside exterior fool you. There is a lot of things wrong in this community. I am not sure why most of the employees seems to have an unpleasant attitude. One that did stood out was the shockingly mean, un compassionate, rude nurse specifically lady nurse named Deshaun. You cannot ask a simple question without them saying "that is not my job" in addition to talking down on people that are below her job level. The facility is beautiful. The staff is very friendly. Do NOT apply here if your family has mental health issues. After taking our money, scheduling a move in, and buying furniture my father was denied because "we aren't equipped to deal with mental health issues." For the record, he has depression. My frustration is the stringing along. Now we have 2 days to find another facility for a loved one. We hid nothing during the application process. Very misleading.

Looks great . Food is not much. If your family member needs extra care, it's up to you to pay for it. If a resident is in a medical crisis, they are told to call 911. Safety concerns are not addressed. Elevator door closes on slow moving residents ,no intercom, to keep residents informed .

My Mother joined the community 3 years ago. There were a number of amenities that have long since disappeared. And the rents continue to go up. Now during covid they say there are extra expenses. Not the case. The residents are fed poor food in boxes, the quality of which has degraded over the last 2 years. And they have raised the rent again, having said they deferred it for two months. The numbers don't add up. They are preying upon the most vulnerable during the worst pandemic in history. Shame.

My family has been disappointed with this place since we moved my grandma in 7 months ago. It has been under constant construction, making it repeatedly hard for the elderly residents who pay nearly $10k a month to live here. Elevators are routinely out, and recently they have completely cut off the parking lot to redo it, which, in my opinion, had no problems in the first place.
