Moved in April 1 ....Antonio was great! Showed me the unit (the whole place is modern and CLEAN!). We did the paperwork in 10 minutes - I was moving things in 15 minutes! Prices are great!

It's clean,safe and secure. This newer facility housed our merchandise for 8 years. JP and the staff have been very reasonable to deal with. They have been most accommodating when needing questions answered and things to be done. I would highly recommend them to all my friends and colleagues. They are the cleanest, too. Easy access from the freeway, old county road and El Camino. Facility is clean, cool in temperature and they have music throughout the facility. The drawback is price. They nickel and dime you. $10 admin fee to open your account, they charge you an extra $10/month unless you can prove you have home owners insurance that covers external storage and they raise their fees every 6 months. We picked a storage place based on 1) safety, 2) cleanliness, 3) accessibility. A-1 Storage in Belmont fit all three. The storage rooms are concrete with metal doors. The rooms are clean and dry and spacious. There are elevators to help move things in or out, and you can drop by during the day to get what you need. You can even borrow push carts for free to load stuff on your car! Fantastic experience... we used it for 10 months to store our apartment while on an extended trip. Really great experience.
Had some stuff in storage for a couple months. I liked that the place was newer and much cleaner than other places I visited. Front desk staff was always helpful and I felt like my stuff was safe because of all the cameras everywhere. Only small gripe was the big elevator would get busy on weekends, so you had to wait a bit. Check their website for first month free deal.
Had used their facility for 3 months as we left the Bay Area and then returned. We took a 5x5 unit. First thing I noticed was that it was really really clean. As the first month was free, I got a really good deal with the price as well. The entire process of signing and acquiring the unit was hassle free and took all of 30 minutes from the time we parked our car and the time we placed our first box inside. Do NOT follow the internet guidance that tells you U-haul is located here if your goal is to buy boxes. It is not. I made that mistake today solely to go buy packing materials and instead bought them from A-1. The pricing there is a disaster. It's fake, because the prices posted only apply if you buy 10 or more. And every items costs twice as much as it does down at u-haul. I regret going in an buying boxes. You don't think of "self" storage as a service industry, but Antonio and JP were great. Courteous, helpful, and above all, flexible. I wasn't sure about the size unit I needed, so they offered to estimate once they saw the stuff - and they weren't suggesting huge sizes and even mentioned that the movers could estimate, too, so it didn't feel that they were trying anything.
