My wife & I were unexpectedly shopping for storage after a pipe leak left our basement filled with water. After checking a few places out that were not up to our standards, we came across A-1. From the moment we entered the office, we knew this would be the place to store our belongings! James & JP were friendly & extremely knowledgeable. James helped us find the perfect size storage & answered all of our questions. The place is very clean & it looks really safe. We will recommend A-1 to all of our friends!

Update: I called and talked to the manager, as advised and he was very pleasant and offered to lower the monthly rent by $40, saying it was an unusually big hike, and that the "system" does it automatically. The next month, I try to pay my rent and THE RENT HAD NOT CHANGED! He didn't lower the rent as he promised. I called and he was out for the next few days and the woman who works there said she didn't know what I was talking about and she couldn't answer any questions. I have had a unit here for a year and the rent has already increased twice - up more than $100! My starting rent was $225. After ~5 months, it increased to $265 and now they are increasing it to $345! That is over 50% total increase in just one year. That's unreasonable and, frankly, unconscionable. Where else can a business get away with a 50% price hike? I didn't agree to that amount. I budgeted for the original price, and my decision to rent was based on that. BAIT AND SWITCH I like most things about this facility but I am offended by their bait and switch approach to business. Four months after renting a unit I received notice of a substantial price change. The correspondence announcing the change said "Periodically, we must adjust rates to account for changing market conditions." This is a lie, as I am informed by an employee that EVERY customer receives a price hike for exactly 4 months into their contract. This is obviously not related to any changing market conditions. God bless Manuela!! When I reserved my unit online, I received a discounted monthly web rate which included the first month free. Unfortunately, when the movers arrived, we all agreed my unit wasn't going to be big enough. So, I asked if there was another larger unit available. Manuela worked some serious magic. She called her boss twice and petitioned on my behalf. She was not only able to secure me a larger unit, but she also made it so I still received the discounted monthly web rate!! I really like A-1 Self Storage in Belmont. It's a super clean facility, great staff that work at the place, good value overall. Ive had to use their service twice in my life at different points. First it was J.P. at the front desk, now it's Tim & Manuela who attend to customers. From JP to Tim/Manuela, they're all attentive, friendly and more than capable in their position. No, I do not recommend A-1 self storage.. the manager Tim was very disrespectful to me from the very beginning.. he talked down to me like I was some sort of low life. The unit he assigned me was very dirty on the floor with no light and unfortunately, since I originally had moved in there, I did not notice how dirty the floor was in my bed. Just got so much dirt and dust on it or my mattress it was really upsetting... They should definitely clean their units a lot better. you have to end up buying their lock you cannot brin... read more
