I dont know what I would do wihtout this thing ... Actually I do know because I dealt with a flatbed scanner after my MFC died about two years ago. I often have to scan 20 - 75 pages at a time and this thing FLIES and I mean FLIES through the task!
It jams 100% of the time because of Post-It notes The scanner is fast, the software is decent enough and the image quality is good. This would be a 5-Star review except for one giant flaw that is just too big to recommend the device. The scanner jams WAY too easily. Basic scanner. Fast scan speed. Overpriced. Lacks cloud software. The lack of cloud scanning features at this price point is pretty disappointing. Brother expects me to install software on my laptop to allow me to sync to google drive or drop box. It is 2018, they need to fix this. Also, has serious problems scanning thin pieces of paper (any thing less than 20lb). I tried to scan some graph paper and spent thirty minutes picking pieces of graph paper out of the machine.

Too bad about the feeder The feed did not work well, or the margins are wrong by default. Every document scanned skewed; not much, but enough to show black stripes on the margins. Either the auto-skew correction does not work, or it is not on by default. When I went to set it, I found there's now way to do it by global default: it needs to be set at each interface, using controller software. Avoid at all costs I should have listened to the other reviews that said the drivers were messed up. I' ve be in I.T. for 25 years and this software is perhaps the worst I've ever seen. I'll save you the long story of spending hours trying to get the thing to scan more than 12 sheets of paper without erroring out, and the saga of multiple driver installations and just say AVOID AT ALL COST!!

LOTS of "processing" time for each scan reduces speed DRAMATICALLY + many "Server Errors" I purchased this scanner to digitize my paperwork into Evernote. I have tried multiple workflows with it, but I am not happy with this scanner. The shortcuts are nice, and the scanner is very flexible and versatile. I am getting quite different results direct scanning to NAS/PC over wired Ethernet to PDF, averaging 41ppm (82ipm) on 300dpi color double sided, no pausing or slow down in scan speed. Mixed medium scan batches with receipts and business cards yields the fairly similar results without feed problems to date. Windows 10 scans via included software are about the same as well. The new one doesn't seem to be defective, but it's touchy and difficult. CONSTANT miss-feeds. I would give it less than one star if I could. I own two of these scanners and they both have CONSTANT miss-feeds. The scanner comes with a carrier sheet for small items, but the scanner always detects the carrier (that they provided) as a miss-feed. Brother support was useless. They told me to adjust all of the setting that I told them I had already adjusted, including miss-feed detection which I constantly turn off. It keeps turning itself back on. JUNK!
This scanner does not work! Unfortunately I did not unpack or try to use this scanner until now but purchased it in October. The scanner will not feed paper in..it tells me that there is a paper jam however I have tried all of the trouble shooting and can not get paper to feed in. I am extremely disappointed that this scanner...out of the box ..does not work. My return window has already closed...what are my options now????
