WARNING: TIFF scanning only supported in B&W!!! I thought I thoroughly researched scanners before selecting the Brother ADS-2800W. It seemed to have the combination of features that I wanted. MAC TWAIN driver doesn't work MAC TWAIN driver only works with Brother's Control Center software, not with any other applications like Acrobat Pro or Photoshop CS6. Their ICA driver works, but has fewer features. Brother's customer support is slow and rude (they hung up on me on the telephone). They claim the problem lies with Adobe, not their own TWAIN driver but the TWAIN drivers from Canon and Epson work fine with my Adobe applications. Like my daughters fiancé - Good looking but totally worthless! This product is more finicky that 5 year old tabby. It is painful to set up. The software supplied is horrible. Really, don't buy this POS. Took a Xanax because I can't deal with all it's issues... going to sleep right after I defenestrate the scanner imposter machine. Great tax write off. You can buy if for business and write off the expense and donate it Goodwill right after for the charitable contribution. Both are a waste of time.
Frustrated with limitations and desktop control software I am using the scanner for home office use, scanning directly to my computer. I previously had been using a Neat scanner and their desktop software. The Neat scanner frankly rocked, but it can only be used with their software and for reasons I won't take the time to explain here... I am not continuing to use their system. Unless you are an IT person, steer clear of this scanner! I've had this machine for 3 months. Initially, it ook me 4 hours to set it up because it was way more complicated than my old Fujitsu scanner setup. In fact, It was more difficult than ANY electronic I ever set up. There were no easy instructions enclosed but said I could go online and download the manual. Do you know what an IP address is and how to access the IP address online? I didn't. Disappointing Software While I had made every effort to research, I find myself disappointed with this scanner. I want to say that the hardware is solid, but it probably isn't. Across the board, the software is just miserable. It reminds me of using software in the mid 90's. It's cumbersome, intuitive and lacks polish. A multi-page gravity-fed workhorse! The Brother Image Center ADS-2800W is a great workhorse of a document scanner. This device will scan through pages quickly from the multi-feed stack, and leave them neatly stacked on the extending tray. Ultra-fast scanner that has a ton of features, when it works (which unfortunately isn't often) When this scanner works, it works really well... but I've already spent more time on the phone with support than this thing will save me in the course of a year. I now have four Brother scanners. All of them have wifi capability, but I've only tried the wifi in a couple of them.
