Excellent Scanner ADS-2800W Review I’ve previously owned the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510, which set a high benchmark in regards to scan speed and quality. Setup – The device comes in two pieces, the scanner and the feeder attachment, along with the power and USB cords. I found the USB cord to be a bit short to connect to my desktop, so I opted to use the wireless scanning functionality. Setting up the wireless and settings (time, and local language) was very easy. Fast - easy to set up - great at OCR I frequently need to scan large quantities of letter and legal size documents as searchable PDFs. This scanner is perfect for that type of usage. I have been using the sheet feeder on an all-in-one, but the Brother ADS-2800W is so much faster. Also, it scans both sides of a document at once, which really saves time and effort. The scanner comes bundled with FineReader 12 Sprint software and the OCR capability is the best I have seen. Better, in my opinion, than Adobe Acrobat. This is a co... read more
Great for documents, but if you were going to digitize your family photos, maybe not so much I'm not too sure if my expectations were off or what, but this didn't quite turn out to be what I expected. If you need a high-speed document scanner -- this is the kind of thing your lawyer buys when a court opponent backs up a dump truck full of paper to the office during discovery -- this is absolutely perfect for the job. A great solution for managing my mountain of receipts and documents. When this scanner arrived I was surprised at how compact and lightweight it is. I had purchased a similar item (NeatDesk) at Sam's Club last year, looking for a manageable solution for being buried in paper for all the receipts, invoices, and other documents I am compelled to deal with by federal and state governmental agencies. Easy to organize data, searchable PDF is awesome I'm super pleased with this. As a basic scanner, it's great. But what I like is that it does that neat thing to organize receipts and other papers. I know, I know, I could have done this with a regular scanner before too, but this makes it just too easy. Quality was great, and setup was easy. Awful Product This unit failed a couple of months after I purchased it. I then spent hours with Brothers "customer support" to try to resolve problem to no avail. Brothers then replaced the unit with a replacement unit. A few months after receiving replacement unit, the replacement unit failed in the same way as the original unit failed. This product is highly unreliable.
Won't work with macOS Something is very wrong with its macOS application. After scanning an image, when the app converts it into an image file (in any format) it truncates bit depth and turns into 8-bit image. Their support was very unhelpful. I wasted tons of time until I return it.
:) If power is lost and come back it will turn on. It cannot be disabled. But Brother has ECOLOGY menu. :) Ecology is stupid or stupid people think about ecology. This review will be updated. Update: There is option o automatic turn of after an hour or so. So, let say that I want to set auto turn off after 2 hours because power is lost and back. It means that during work days it is not good, it will be off every 2 hours. It is fine for weekend. But if set to turn auto off after 8 hours, it is good for work days, not for week... read more
