The food is good, albeit a little pricey compared to similar restaurants nearby. The ambiance and service unfortunately depend entirely on where you sit. The main parts of the restaurant have a very cool vibe, but if they seat you on the side street section outside, you lose that vibe entirely. We made a reservation on OpenTable and they sat us outside (we asked for inside) and we told the hostess that it smelled like cigarette smoke. She agreed with us and moved us inside to the bar area where it was a small circular table meant for drinks and not food. We ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board. Overall the experience, service and food was poor. Too many tables for the amount of staff, they were over run. Every table around mine had some sort of complain.
The squid was a little too oily.
Two of the 3 meals were average at best, the 3rd, duck pappardelle Raghu, had bones/bone fragments that could have caused serious harm. Manager came over and said yes, it was shredded duck and perhaps bones were to be expected? 4 of them? They removed the charge and brought cake but moment ruined. Our server was very nice but given all the other options, will not recommend or return.
Honestly save your money- not really worth the hype. Going for dinner and drinks in little Italy, you kind of know what to expect and our group was excited to try allegro. Made a reservation for outside at 8pm and showed up on time- still was asked to wait but the bar was full so we stood outside for 20 minutes ended up inside at the worst table in the house. Waiter forgot to bring out appetizers so we had to wait until after the entree to eat.
Our dishes were missing potatoes and when we told them they never brought us out potatoes. Our server forgot to give us our sides. Other tables received bread and we were never given any. Our server comped us with drinks for forgetting our sides. They were definetly understaffed so I understand, but too expensive for mediocre food and service.
We put in the notes for our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, no mention of it from the staff. We sat at 7pm & were inside, cute atmosphere, decorations were nice - table wobbled incessantly. Our waitress came up to our table after about 10 min- she was great, regrettably we did not catch her name, no tag & neither of us heard her say it- She got our waters and gave us a few minutes for our order.
