Had a reservation; still took forever to get seated. We tried to simply sit in the lounge and have a drink and some appetizers while they found a table for us (party of four), but were told we could only do that if we’d have the whole meal in the lounge. Why have a lounge then? Why not put some more tables in there and get people seated timely? The hostess was nice, and apologetic, but ineffective. Some guy with an accent was also, somehow involved and he was ridiculously rude. The lack of stars is real for him and the long ... read more

Food very good interesting menu. Service was off. Entrees arrived before salad and before wine. Sent entrees back. They brought them back again right after wine and salad arrived. Felt rushed to eat entrees before they got cold

got the reservation on open table. they sat us in the bar lounge area. tables were weird to eat at. very cool looking place. beer was flat clearly didn't have it hooked up to the correct CO2... i got the scrimp and scalp pasta. it was cheap frozen seafood. not something you would expect from a place a few blocks from the ocean... its a cool looking place.. food is god awful. stop at the bar and have a drink while you find a better restaurant near by.

Made reservations because we had heard great things. We were wrong. The ambiance was overly loud. We couldn’t even hear each other. Had to resort to yelling. Our waiter didn’t even refill our water we had to keep reminding him. His next table was within inches from us but made sure they were attended to. He never even offered us dessert. At this point we just wanted to leave. He’s lucky he got tipped. Never returning. Waste of money.

Service was horrible! Manager apologized explaining limited staff due to pandemic but our waiter was the worst. Literally saw him sitting with other guests at other tables; hardly came to us. Ordered wine and when he brought them spilled them on table but only after taking mask off and smelling each one to see which wine was which!!! Trust I understand being short staffed and busy as I worked in service but the service we got was inexcusable!

Honestly the whole dinner was a fail. I made my reservation weeks prior for a specific table. I know that it’s never for sure but I called 3 hours before on the day of and they CONFIRMED that we had the table I requested. We show up and our table is taken and there is nothing available. We get sat 25 minutes later at a outside patio block. The manager working the door who said she would “take care of us” for the mistake never showed back up. Our waiter was nice but pretty suspect bringing the wrong items (higher price point ... read more

Every item ordered was disappointing. Its also expensive. The seating on the patio - while charming with lemons hanging from the ceiling, was super uncomfortable. The bench seating forces one to sit uncomfortably, erect. Great for posture, but not great for dining. The food. Unimpressive. We ordered the zucchini blossoms and calamari to start - super underwhelming. Then pastas - duck ragu pappardelle, orecchiette y salsiccia, and gnocchi caccio y pepe. All were over salted yet lacked flavor. Two pastas were almost (I'm sad t... read more

The food at Allegro was delicious but a little overpriced. We have been to other restaurants that are owned by this family and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. What stood out the most about places like RustiCucina was the service and how friendly everyone was. The true essence of a family-owned restaurant was evident from the beginning. At Allegro, it was the exact opposite. For most of our meal, there were only two other parties being served. As mentioned, the food tasted great but we had to hunt down our waiter, who was ... read more

It was our last day in San Diego and we wanted a special night out. We were seated in the lemon patio and it was cute with an arbor of lemons above. However that’s where our positive experience ended. We sat there for 25 minutes with our menus and wine lists we got from the host. However, not a single person greeted us after we were seated nor were we even approached at our table. It’s like we were invisible. We were totally ignored even though servers and waiters passed by our table over and over again. We decided to just w... read more
