I was nervous but from the time I walked in the door, I felt welcome. Everyone was positive and supportive. I did have a wait but it was worth it since Dr. Hanneken took her time and explained everything. I knew I had found the right Dr. with such a supportive staff.
I was so thankful that I settled with Dr. Hanneken to do my retina surgery. I saw many retina surgeons and she was the best and nicest to talk to and was the most calming for me about the procedure of any retina surgeon I've seen. Many of the other doctors made me feel very anxious about the possible negative outcomes. I’ve been “fortunate”’to have 2 vitrectomy surgeries in the same eye by Dr. Hanneken. The first was an emergency as I had a detached retina and the second was in the same eye after some cataract surgery complications- also an emergency. The Dr. adjusted her schedule to accommodate me immediately in both cases and both surgeries were most successful! Dr. Hanneken is super friendly. I usually get very nervous going to any type of doctor, but Dr. Hanneken was very friendly and listened to all of my concerns and questions. She made me feel like I mattered. I visited her in the La Jolla location and ALL of the staff was super friendly and cared for me.
My first visit with Dr. Hanneken was very nice. she explained everything as she progressed. I had to be worked in because of some date changes made by my normal doctor.
She is very knowledgeable and has saved my eyes on several occasions. She is dedicated, caring and personable, and has a great support staff.
