I always feel listened to! Taylor Hawkins is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, extremely compassionate, and very relatable! I always feel like she’s listening to me. I never feel judged or disregarded. It’s very hard to come by a doctor like her now a days! Especially in mental health care! Thank you Taylor!
Dr. Prakken & Dr. Brett Gordon are among the most competent, and compassionate doctors I’ve ever worked with. I highly recommend this team. They provide the very best of both, Pain Management, and Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Therapy and Support.

Listen to me gave me realistic tips on how to deal with poor mental health. I have PTSD and it was really easy to talk to the doctors and therapist.
I can’t say for certain, because unc has my records so falsified ( what we talked about vs what they later say we talked about) but i think these people will be reasonable. I have been a longterm Chronic Pain Patient of the Avance doctors for ~15 years and would never consider going elsewhere for assistance in lessening my Chronic 24/7 Pain!! They listen to my issues, demonstrate empathy and caring, and always with a positive attitude toward finding suitable solutions in their efforts on my behalf. Additionally, their office staff and assistants are always friendly and helpful… as if they are all one big happy family. That is most definitely a positive for their patients!
Been coming here coming up on 4 years. Deb has been compassionate and warm and empathetic to my situation (chronic pain/multiple surgeries and mental health difficulties) and helped me talk things out at times and medically find solutions (it’s a medical practice not a medical perfect) that allows me to live life relatively pain free while having my mental health issues addressed and can contribute to society as a whole without it interfering my work on HIPAA compliant practice management software.
