Family dinner with young children. The restaurant had made a big effort with the Christmas theme. The dining area was extremely comfortable, with a lovely atmosphere and quiet enough for easy conversation. The food was excellent, again a great deal of effort has gone into creating a very interesting menu. The children's menu was also good. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. A great evening out.
We booked after being recommended by a friend. Only two downsides to our visit, we were at the table right next to the door, when other tables for two were available. Every time the door opened we were blasted by cold air. We chose Sunday Roast which was amazing value for money, but was served on a cold plate which meant our food was cold before we had the chance to finish. Despite booking and requesting a table in the restaurant we were offered the table between the bar and restaurant... given that it was the week before Christmas and everywhere was extremely busy a table beside the bar overspill was unacceptable. After refusing we were indeed sat in the restaurant... can’t complain about the food thankfully
Vibration from basement air con was pretty unbearable. No mention when booking or on arrival. Like eating whilst sitting on a vibrating plate - you had to experience it to believe it. If it hadn’t been for that we’d probably have loved it although I think it’s needing a wee bit more micro management to turn it into something really special.
