I just returned from my 1-year check-up meeting with Dr. Shaver. I can say, without any hesitation, that my hair transplant exceeded my expectations. Gone are my baseball caps, fear of the wind, and long sighs when looking in the mirror. I felt no discomfort during my FUT procedure due to the local anesthesia. More than three decades ago, Dr Bernstein saved me from a previous failed hair transplant due to the original surgeon's lack of experience. I have been seeing Dr Bernstein for around 10 years. My hair was receding and thinning on top. He explained to me that a transplant would not be a solution because my hair is very thin ("You won't be happy with the results") so we used finasteride and minoxidil (liquid form). The hair loss did stop but I did not get regrowth. In the past two years I have taken oral minoxidil and I recently visited Dr B and he was able to show me that I have now some regrowth on the top of the scalp. Since posting my review, Dr. Shaver contacted me and politely apologized for any misunderstandings. She explained that "an unfortunate reality of hair transplant surgery" is that a patient may not get the full coverage they hoped for. She assured me that she did indeed work intently on my graft recipient site while I was asleep. She also said she is always available for consultation. I consulted Dr. Shaver for an eyebrow transplant. She was warm, knowledgable and confident discussing the procedure and she answered my questions thoroughly, including after the consultation. I was treated with kindness the day of the procedure, the staff were experienced and helpful and Dr. Shaver managed all aspects expertly. Her follow-up care has been excellent. Overall am super-pleased as the healing process (and hopefully new eyebrow growth!) goes forward. Highly recommend.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe Dr. Shaver and her team at Bernstein Medical. The entire staff is top notch from Lisa Laino and Erika Matos as Patient Coordinators, to the surgical team. I've been with this group for 4 years and I truly look forward to my consultations with Dr. Shaver every time. She listens, provides expert advice and I always leave with a smile. As for the results, I couldn't be happier.
