Big Jim's is great for a casual meal. The scenery is beautiful, overlooking the 18th hole of the lovely golf course, with outdoor and indoor seating. It's a great dining option for those staying in Palmetto Dunes - very walkable - and is open to anyone as it is located before the gates. Recommend the patty melt, BLT, pizzas. Simple but good breakfast options, and they generally don't seem to be crowded for breakfast like many restaurants on the island. Terrible service and barely average food. It's like the bartender wasn't even listening!!! Brought the wrong draft beer. We ordered takeout and it was completely wrong! Everyone was hungry and ate, so I did too even though I didn't get what I ordered. When I called to ask for restitution, she asked if I could bring back the order! And ruin everyone's dinner after we just drove 12 hours?! I asked to speak to a manager and she said none was on duty... most likely a lie to save herself. Don't order online. Their online orders do not work. Felt bad for staff, but if you know it does not work then take it off your website. Pizza less than average. Patio had a nice view.
I was repulsed at the service at Big Jim this evening. They act as though I wasn't there at 6 . Because it was not crowded and there were plenty of college age servers! When I walked in I was given the stink face by the servers behind the bar talking with each other. I observed it was seat yourself so I sat down outside beside the door. Place was below average. Had fried chicken and ribs-both just okay. There is better in HHI. The benefit is that it is in Palmetto Dunes, so very convenient if you don't feel like driving.

We ended up at Big Jim's based on location and the fact that were able to quickly accommodate our party of 6 at the last minute. I was skeptical because of some of the reviews, but I'm glad that we gave it a shot! Big Jim's is located at Palmetto Dunes and is set overlooking a golf course. It's a pretty cool view. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outdoors. Very convenient to the Marriott Resort. It's an easy walk. Great outdoor space overlooking driving range and greens. There are decent menu options. Our food was warm or room temperatures at best. It could have been because we arrived about 7:30ish for dinner. I think it would have been a better experience had the food been served hot. Service was good but they never asked "how's everything". The collards were good even though they were only room temperature. Just make sure you tell them you expect "hot" food when ordering.
Not sure why this place is even open besides golfers that are desperate for food. If you are vegetarian I wouldn't recommend going at all. Heck, I am not vegetarian and you couldn't pay me to go back. The sweet potato fries have no sweet potato inside it. We didn't even eat them ,so gross like eating fried lard. The atmosphere is very boring except watching golfers. The liquor list is very limited- bottom of shelf.
