Great for breakfast. Coffee is good. Loved the egg sandwich and french toast. Nice view outside on the patio overlooking the golf course. Add a star if you get Maria as your server.

We stopped in on our last night of vacation. We've stayed in Palmetto Dunes many times and Big Jim's will now be a part of our vacation plans. We always end up at other more "popular" and CROWDED restaurants on the island only to be disappointed by a long wait, average food, average service, and a big bill. Big Jim's- walk in, sit down, get service, good food, and relax like a meal should be. Collards were good but hush puppies and bbq chicken were very disappointing. Smoked gouda burger did not have much flavor either. Would not recommend based on our experience. Regular burger was pretty good based on others at our table but very disappointed.

We had party of 6. We had three chopped chef salads that had turkey, ham and bacon mixed in. It was truly a chopped and mixed salad. It was fabulous. Also had three bacon cheeseburgers that the kids claim were great. Bathrooms were some of the cleanest we have ever been in. Be sure to read the history of Big Jim Self. He built the first championship golf course on Hilton head island. He was an Army Major in WW2 serving with distinction. Know for his Tennessee Cole slaw and SC BBQ sauce. I walked here to get breakfast one morning & was a little skeptical but it turned out to be some durn good food. Im glad i trusted the waitress & got the loaded hash browns! And the biscuit was great too! Fun watching the kids & guys hit a couple putts

Had breakfast, Hash-brown bowl and it was very tasty. Good polite service and clean. Good TV's for sports watching...with a lean toward golf.

This is a cross between a regular 19th hole spot on a golf course and a restaurant. Service I received was from the bartender Jeff and he was very good. I was told to try the slider sampler if I wanted to see how all their items taste. It did not disappoint. The brisket and fried chicken are a MUST here!! I was even offered just 2 more fried chicken sliders alone. The beers were cold and priced about what you would expect. Very clean and has a patio. I discovered they have breakfast too while looking. Good food and a friendly staff. I loved my Gouda Burger, definitely the best burger I've had during this vacation, and the fries were pretty good too. I also tried the Pork BBQ and enjoyed it Throughly. The drink I tried (Damn Yankee IPA) was a nice touch, but nothing special. All in all I had a great time at Big Jim's, definitely a must try

A forgettable meal. We went with three adults and one toddler. On the plus side, the waitress very friendly to my son -- she immediately got him a kid's menu and crayons, along with a drink in a plastic cup with a lid. The view of the golf course and the driving range is quite nice, and there is an outdoor seating area as well. Also, if you come after golfing hours, there is plenty of easy and close parking -- although you are probably walking or riding a rented bike if you are here.
