There was a serious lack of communication from the company to me and amongst themselves. They almost always answered questions with vague answers or aiming the blame at someone else. As a company that deals with only mortgages, daily, there should have been no surprises to them and should have known EXACTLY what paperwork was required from me from the beginning. And all restrictions connected to certain mortgages should have been made clear right away.

Closing paperwork had to be re-done, even though we had notified Bill of the status of our situation 4 days prior, as he had requested. We were stuck at the title company for over 2 hrs, waiting for corrected papers. Also, we were not told of costs of the loan up front. And after we questioned the cost of some items, were told that we could make the "go away" if we paid a higher rate. When we asked, well, isn't that the same as points, which we had declined to pay, Bill had no good answer.

I know that the mortgage process is difficult right now because of the number of people buying homes. However there were several things right at the end, home insurance policy and reinspection, that could’ve and should’ve been completed much earlier to ensure that everything went smoothly. My biggest complaint was the lack of communication at the end- I would’ve accepted the delays as part of the process if I had been kept abreast of them. Having to reschedule movers and work equaled money

We were a week late closing. Appraisal was late but I don’t feel the communication with the appraiser was sufficient. Also I wasn’t informed that it still wasn’t in. I called the tile company on Friday to get a closing time for Monday and they told me it wasn’t happening.

An issue arose that was not addressed by VanDyk for 30 days.. was then told issue still existed, then heard nothing for a week.. SO stressful. I contacted my attorney the moment issue was brought to my attention, he explained everything - was no issue - he offered to speak with VanDyk but they never called. I was cleared to close and told issue still exists.. ugh.

It seemed as if this was the first transaction this facility and staff had ever handled. The communication was at times, way too often, and a bother. However, when very important facts and/or deadlines came up the communication was non-existent or too late. When we tried to reach out to Bill or associates, they were always "on lunch" or "out of the office". This transaction was unnecessarily delayed by Bill and his staff. All could have been avoided if they had done their jobs.

The amount of information requested was ridiculous. As soon as one request was submitted 3 more would show up DAYS later. Maybe we just don't understand how a FHA loan works. I'm sure dealing with the federal government is exhausting.
