In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Not what it used to be. Service was mediocre at least. Table for 3 had one complete set of silverware. Had to ask for more and also for straws. When food finally came, it appeared to have been under a heat light for too long. I ordered the pot roast which typically comes with potatoes and carrots cooked with it. Instead, I got dry mashed potatoes, overly thick gravy with an artificial taste, and a few small carrot pieces. We weren't happy that their menu is different then the Black bear diner on Bell.I daughter loves the restaurant but she always wants spaghetti ( she loves it so much we get the adult platter for her). We were shocked this time to find out that she couldn't have it and It wasn't on the menu. Found it odd that they would not have it when their other location does. Other than that service and food was good.

This place is like none other and the food...oh my gosh! Great server. Enjoyed dinner last night!
There's no way you will leave hungry. Huge portions and great desserts
The salad was awful. The mac an chesse my grandaughter got was litteraly mac and chesse out of a box. Just poor food.

Went tonight for their all you can eat fish fry. Very disappointed. It was not available, as they had run out of fish. I would have been ok if it had been later, but this was at 6:15pm. Very poor planning on their part. Don't advertise it on Facebook and then not be prepared. Ridiculous!
